      Could not stabilize the dream

Today I had two lucid dreams, but I will talk about the end of one of them, to tell you the experience in stabilizing the dream that did not work.

It's bright day and I'm talking to my brother about dreams. After I walk away from him, it starts to get dark. The sunset starts to get blurry. The buildings around me that were blue and yellow, they get red and black. The sky begins to darken. While i rub hands to stabilize the dream, I say:
-"I want clarity now, I want everything to be clear."
      No results.
-"I will close my eyes. When i open them, I want to see everything clear."
I close. When I open, I see all gray and black and very blurred. Very blurry. I give up, saying:
      - "F*ck!!! Okay, bye."
      And i awake.

What did i do wrong? What could i have done to stabilize it?

Well, dream stabilization is all about getting your brain involved (or re-involved) with the dream and to do this we must stimulate parts of the brain. This makes stabilization fundamentally different from dream control and thus commanding the dream around usually doesn't help improve the vividness, visual clarity, and general stability of the dream world.

The most common way to get our brain's involved with the dream is to stimulate one of our 5 senses, the most popular of which is by far the sense of touch. This process forces the brain concentrate on whatever we are focusing our chosen sense on. If it's the sense of touch, the brain must simulate the object's texture. If it's the sense of smell, the object's smell. If it's the sense of sight, the object's visuals. If it's the sense of hearing, the object's sound. If it's the sense of taste, the object's taste. It's this concentration that stabilizes the dream and increases the clarity.

It's possible that commands simply don't (usually) stimulate the brain the way our senses do when we are dreaming. Thus why your demands may have fallen on deaf ears. If that is indeed the case, there are still a plethora of other techniques you can use to stabilize your dreams and I'm sure you will very quickly find one that succeeds. I would recommend trying out the touch technique given it's popularity .

My Lucid Dreaming Motto - "I have walked upon the the surface of a burning star. Observed events so infinitesimal and instantaneous that they can barely be described as having occurred at all. You... you're just a dream character. And this world's most powerful dream character poses no more threat to me than it's smartest cupcake." - Dr. Manhattan (kinda)
