Question Technique, Technique, Technique! Is it right?

Hi there, im just curious seeing as ive been learning to effectively LD for about 7 weeks now whether the technique im using is effective for achieving a DILD ? I will say ive briefly noticed i was dreaming once however it just faded as soon as i noticed. Anyways ill go through what i do on a regular basis and could you tell me if its good or bad along with any improvements and things to avoid doing perhaps ? Well the first thing as always starts off with me saying am i dreaming? is this a dream? I then say look at my hands, are my hands distorted in any-way or form that makes me realise that im dreaming? Then i follow it up by asking are they bigger, smaller, on fire, icy, see through, glass, sand, gravel, mud, lava, water, different colour, glowing, flashing, furry, fuzzy, blurry, anything that makes me realise im dreaming (i try to make my hands what i say as i go along) then i give them one final check over and then conclude, no they look normal.. ok so how many fingers have i got, remember i should have 5 fingers on each hand if i have less or more than five fingers on each hand then i am dreaming (then proceed to counting) after that i say ok 5 fingers on each hand thats normal, now look away from my hands and look at my surroundings and environment, do they look normal, and is there anything out of place or out the ordinary that shouldnt be there? (then do thorough scan of my surroundings really questioning if its normal or not, especially the people around me.) After this i repeat looking back at the palms of my hands and counting my fingers. Then i say ok can i strech my finger, if i can im dreaming (really imagine stretching my finger) Then i say no, ok well can i bend my finger (sidways) if i can then im dreaming (try to bend finger while imagine it bending) Finally i check the time 3 times each time looking at it then looking away and at the end i say no hmm it stayed the same 3 times, however if it changed randomly all over the place then it would indicate im dreaming. Then i say all my reality checks point towards and tell me at this point in time its unfortunatly reality, however keep a hightened awareness of my surroundings and environment at all times, no matter where it is, when it is or who im with. After i say if i see anything weird or i have doubts about anything thats its out of place or not normal, do my reality checks because im most likely dreaming, another thing if i see my dream sign do my reality checks, because im dreaming x2, and last but not least do reality checks all day, every day no matter where i am when it is or who im with x3 because i need to know when im in reality and especially know when im dreaming as i need to know when im dreaming. I also do ADA every so often aswell. wow, that was a mouthful, but hey its what i do multiple times everyday and ive only seen results one time in 7 weeks :/ so is this right or are there improvements to be made to my technique ? suggestions would be highly appreciated thanks .

Wow, that's quite alot of different reality checks, haha, but if you like doing them then it's fine. What i would definitely suggest though is to never think "no, they look normal" or "no, i am not dreaming" or such after reality checking, instead do some mantra like "Next time i am dreaming i do reality check and realize it" or think about goals. Also when looking at hands/counting fingers don't try to expect certain result, just expect them to be different, trying to change them is fine though.
As for what to add, you can try setting intention/mindset for lucid dreaming before/while going to sleep, by thinking about it or using mantras/visualization. Also you can try doing WBTB and/or naps if you have time, they give higher awareness and are nice for lucid dreaming in general, no matter what other techniques you use.

That's a really meticulous RC routine. I usually just look at my hand or do a quick one like pulling part of my skin to see if it stretches. For me, if I look at my hand in a dream I can almost immediately tell I'm dreaming. I sometimes try telekinesis to see if I'm dreaming but that's never gotten me lucid. Maybe your routine is too long and doesn't carry over into dreams. Try doing Mantras like "tonight I am lucid dreaming." Also, since you haven't had a lot of LDs for seven weeks of practice maybe you're doing something wrong like watching screens before going to bed or not keeping a good dream journal. I'm no expert but I think you should have more LDs for that much effort.
      Good Luck

As loik said, it's definitely meticulous. But again, if you like doing that, then do it.

I would say questioning all those things specifically is probably a bit too long to remember, especially in a dream. Simply a quick check for if they're normal or not should suffice.

      What I do is this:

      Am I dreaming?
I raise my awareness and have a look around myself, a quick check to see if anything is off, even if only slightly. I then focus on my body to see if I'm feeling any sort of strange sensations, and have a look at my hands, pinch my nose and try to breathe, then go on with my day.
This only takes me about 5-10 seconds to do, and it's gotten me lucid most times. Experimentation is definitely important though, and what works for me may not work for you. Play around with it and see what works best for you
