Need some motivation - getting back into LDing.

So this summer I haven't been up to LDing all that much and I'd like to get back into it, however I really am in need of motivation. I want to get back to pretty much full ADA I did before the holidays, I just have to get back into it and I should be fine. Just say something that will make me kick myself in the butt, it would be much appreciated.

I wish lucids would just pop up whenever you ask for one. Sure, you may occasionally have them without trying but it's always much better to practice a technique and actually MAKE them happen rather than crying over failed attempts and waiting around for the next one.

The truth is that it all relies on you and your mindset. If you wanna make it work, you have to do something. Reread tutorials and guides. Reread your journal entries. Make a new list of short and long-term goals. Take a nap. Drink apple juice. Try binaural beats, or not. Daydream, daydream, daydream. And use your imagination.

Do you remember your most memorable lucid, or even nonlucid? Don't you wanna have that again? And this time even more vivid. If you find it hard to get back into the swing of things, find a lucid buddy around here and swap personal stories and make competitions about lucid goals between each other. Do lucid attempts and experiments together.

Remember that everytime you sleep is an opportunity to get lucid, and the more you just wait around just waiting for it to happen, the rustier you're going to be. Good luck.l
      Mismagius and DawgBone like this.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I've done that before too, most recently back in July. Not so much that I lost motivation but I started doing other stuff, kind of got lazy and forgot to keep practicing. For motivation listen to the DreamViews Podcast, it always gets me really motivated

There are a lot of great dream journals here too, one that's great for motivation is Hyu's dream journal: Hyu's Adventures. OpheliaBlue also has some fun dreams to read.

You could also read the task of the month and year threads for motivation and inspiration, lot's of cool dreams written there.

I hope these help you get motivated and back into it! ^^

EDIT: I agree with what paigeyemps said, great advice.

      Use it for personal gain.

Are you studying a language? Speak with DCs using that language.

Are you trying to visualize something, such as a design for a house in a sandbox? Imagine that house, and refine the details until you get a perfect image of what you want.

      There are many more examples.

Actually my first language is French but most of my LDs are in English for some reason. At school, when I'm bored, I automatically get lost in my mind with visualization and it's pretty crazy. I would give so much for a machine that would output a video or images from my brain...

Here's a excellent book that inspires me:

You're capable and are just out of practice. Get back to the basics, do a few meaningful reality checks throughout the day (light switches, watches (either *analog or digital) writing/signs, *looking at your hands.

      (*) = very effective RC's for me.

Remember the importance of dream recall, too.

Repeat your intentions to stay aware and get lucid, throughout the day. Have a laptop? Paste a reminder to RC on the lid or corner of screen. Wake up to take a piss? Put a reminder to RC above the toilet. You might have more success doing this after waking after 5 or 6 hours sleep.

I think once you have your next LD, the passion will come back. =)

Experiment, stay dedicated & use each try as a lesson as to how to LD more effectively.
