LDs have come to a halt -Need advice

Im new to this. I have been conciously trying to induce DILDS for about a month and a half. I have had four lucid dreams total. However, in the past week or two, I've nearly lost all my progress, it seems. I'm less interested in LDing, I am not remembering to RC as well, and my recall is somewhat lacking. I know that I should be doing more RCs and ADA, but I have been very lazy and don't really care to do those often. I also just got GTA 5, so that probably isn't helping either.

How should I go about getting over this dry spell? How can I motivate myself more?

Hi there! Getting 4 lds for a beginner and within such a short time is really good. It looks like what you have been doing (RC, ADA, journalling) has been paying off. It's natural that if you drop all these the chances for ld will go down. You still might get random lds but not as many as you would have if follow the induction techs.

So doing these things is really important. Also, to get motivated think about what your short term and medium term goals are. There are so many awesome things you can do in an ld. Read other peole's journals to get inspired, check out our task of the month or similar threads.

Also, here's a really good thread with additional tips on how to increase lds:

losing interest in lucid dreams is the #1 killer of lucid dreamers. We try to stay motivated by staying on DV, watching dream related movies, or relating movies that are not related to dreams to movies. Sometimes it just seems like a waste of time to me even, but it is worth it in the end. Keep trying and keep moving forward. The goal is right around the corner!

Also, 2 weeks without without a lucid is very normal for a beginner. You are doing exceptional for a beginner, keep it up!

This is normal. I guess we get this randomly. Sometimes we have a lot of LD's, then they stop, then we get them again.
Take my example. Normally i have 1 LD per week and around 3 non-lucid dreams daily with great recall. Then all of a sudden, for 3 weeks, all of my dreams stopped. No recollection whatsoever. And then, the 15 days after that i had 13 LD's(!!). You see? It's not constant. And it helped not being frustrated. I thought: "I had no dreams again. That's ok. They will come back." And they did.

So, my suggestion is: don't try so hard and don't be frustrated by not having the dreams you like. When you least expect it, they will come back.

Along with what has been said, if you dont want to LD, you wont. Thats actually a good thing. LaBerge said he was having so many during research he was worried he couldnt stop them. But when he didnt work to have them, they stopped. This is true for most of us. I have gotten tired or motivated by something else and didnt care if I had an LD for 2 or 3 weeks, and they stopped. But when I got eager to have them they resumed. Nothing wrong with breaks. I am on vacation now and hitting the bed tired. Told myself not to worry if no dreams or LDs...my grand kids are getting up before 6:30 so I cant sleep in. So no good dreaming as expected until today, when I fell asleep on the couch at 8:00am. Then had a nice LD. Since I dont really know how I cause them, I used to worry they would suddenly stop and that would be it. But thats not the case. If you want them they always come back, once you have some experience....even if you hit a lull for a few weeks, which is just usually not really caring to have them at that time.
