      Accidental WBTB/ Classification Help?

Alright guys, I need help classifying this experience I had.

I woke up at about 3am this morning, unable to get back to sleep, and stayed awake a bit reading and what not. After a while I felt sleepy, so I laid down to go back to bed. I hadn't intended to do whatever I did, but I felt my body start to vibrate and go numb. This was accompanied paralysis and by slight popping noises and faint voices after. I've read up on WILDing and this seemed to be similar characteristics of SP. I decided to go along with it.
Whatever I got I didn't expect. I slipped into a state of mind I haven't been in before (DILDer here) and I felt my legs lift up. With my eyes still closed, I feel my legs stick straight up in the air. I instantly thought this was maybe the beginning of astral projection, which I know little about and have never done. I imagine a rope coming down from the ceiling and pull the upper half of my body "up" and out. I was too afraid to open my "eyes" in case I saw anything. Also, I feel like it was difficult to propel my self around (although weightless) so I floated down to the floor below my bed (I couldn't manage to feel the floor) and than floated to the ceiling . I opened my eyes to see the walls color. Snapped back into my body, the end.

I woke to to three obviously false awakenings with no success for a substantial lucid.

I was awake the entire time, so what do I classify this as? Was I dreaming the entire time? What am I doing wrong? Thanks, guys.

I'd say it was a successful wild. While you didn't plan to ld in the first place, you did know more or less what was going on and proceeded according to whatever you knew (be it AP, OBE or wild related).

Any tips for next time? Be more positive about your experience and have some tasks in mind. You might want to do an RC to confirm you are dreaming, although floating around can be used as an RC too. You can also see through your eyelids if you want to, so no need to force them open.

Right, one of my dream signs is that I can see through my eyelids, but for some reason it was different this time. It's safe to say I was afraid to see what other people seem to see during SP. Although I couldn't see in the traditional sense, I had an awareness of what I was doing. I had other dream signs that were obvious to me as far as the false awakenings go.
I would have never guessed last night would turn into an AP-esque experience, so I was unprepared. What's the differece between true AP and just dreaming that you're APing. Google turns up people that swear they're having an authentic experience, but have dream like 'scapes instead of real world ones.

That's quite a common reaction for many. We tend to be scared and expect that something negative will happen, but it doesn't have to be that way. It can also be something cool and interesting. I sometimes hear amazing music, for example. It pays off to be in a positive mood when this happens.

Unfortunately, there are differing views on AP/wilding, if they are the same thing and also how can one tell the difference. You can also check the section beyond dreaming for some discussions regarding AP.

      Beyond Dreaming

I think Psionik is quite experienced with AP, so you can ask him.
