Should I continue with this method?

About 2 years ago, I became interested in lucid dreaming. I did the practices: wring a dream journal and doing RC, for a few day. Then, I gave them up, because I found an easier way to have LDs.

This is what I did. After I woke up, I would masturbate and go to sleep again. As sleeping, I would keep my brain awake and not move. After a few minutes, I would enter a lucid dream. It worked surprisingly well for me.I tried this 7 days in a roll. There was only one day that it didn't work. In some days, I had more than one LDs. After that I kinda gave up lucid dreaming.

I have been interested in lucid dreaming again recently. Right now I have plenty of free time and want to master it. I have been rigorously writing my dream journal and doing RC for a couple of days now. I'm not gonna be lazy this time. My goal is to have a lucid dream whenever I want lol. I did the method again this morning and it almost worked. If I hadn't moved, I might have had a lucid dream. I remember the feeling during the transition to lucid dreaming that I had 2 years ago. And I had it this morning.

I don't know if I should continue doing this, because even though I could successfully enter a lucid state with it, each of the dreams were very short. They lasted only 2-4 minutes. I tried spinning and rubbing my hands. Neither of them worked. Does anyone know which method makes you have long lucid dreams? And if I try other methods, how long will It take for me to have a LD.

"Sorry for my strange use of words. It was because of the automatic spelling correction.

The method you were doing sounds like WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream). Both DILD and WILD can produce quality LDs, some people think WILDs are even longer and more vivid. I say continue using it if it works for you, you don't have to use only one method either. The amount of time it'll take to have a lucid dream with a different method varies for each person, one person might succeed the first night and another within a week.

      You make me curious

I would keep that WBTB ( modified ! ) technique. Keeping lucidity and extending dream time is another business - and you will never get good at it without practice ( ie: becoming lucid in the first place )

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

I did the method again this morning and it worked. Unfortunately the LD lasted only 20 seconds.
I tried spinning and rubbing my hands. Neither worked. The only thing I did in the dream was say "Hi" to my mom. This is so frustrating. I want to fly, go to places and make love. The LD was very vivid though.

The thing is I can never enter lucidity without masturbating. I've tried WILD, MILD, and WBTB with no success.

There is no right or wrong way to LD. Well, let's not go crazy and hurt ourselves. My point is that everyone is different. What works for me may not work at all for some people. Clearly you've found a good technique for you. Although I must say that it sounds exhausting getting rid of all that energy in the morning several days in a row. But if it works for you then that's great.

Off topic: How do you know ? Well, it may be less exhausting than female masturbation..idk..but yeah it 's probably not the most perfect timing for this, but if it works...

It would be fun to put Dream Views experimenting this technique

I could be wrong here, but I don't think it's the masturbating that is getting you lucid. I think it's the fact that you woke up, stayed up a bit and then went to sleep or WILD. That's called WBTB - wake-back-to-bed.

It's crucial for a WILD, because it wakes our mind up. Just enough, so it's still sleepy, but not gonna fall asleep immediately into unconscious sleep and will be able to stay awake with you till a dream is ready for you to enter.

At first I thought it was WILD. But don't those who WILD see hypnagogic images, before entering a LD? I don't see any images. Everything is completely black. It feels like my body sinking down the into the darkness for a few minutes. When this feeling is gone, I know that at this point I have become lucid. Perhaps the masturbating helps relax my body which greatly assists with entering a lucid state. I've tried WILD without masturbating a few times, didn't work. Anway my LDs are very short. They last approximately only 1-4 minutes. That's why I wonder if my technique is wrong. Well my short LDs could be because I can sleep no more than 5 hrs on average.

If it works, it's not wrong, hehe. Plus, it makes sense, that it would relax your body, because, yeah, it does that, or so I heard : P

And not always there are images - HH, before we enter WILD. Sometimes there are sensations, or both, or nothing at all.

You can see more here http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...into-wild.html

      Good luck and have fun.
