Darn! Missed a couple of obvious dream signs!

I guess this is a common complaint, but I'm mad at myself for missing three obvious dream signs last night, and failing to experience even one iota of lucidity. It was still a fun dream, and it is always encouraging to remember such vivid detail, but in the final analysis it was a missed opportunity.

Oh well. Tonight's another night to get it right!

All through the day every day I stop and think about where I am, what I'm doing, who I'm with, whether or not this makes sense, look out for dreamsigns (red/bright lights! glass walls! etc!), do RCs, dream yoga exercises, etc., etc., but awareness only manifests very rarely in the last month in dreams. I have a feeling timing (WBTB?) and sleep conditions really have a major impact, as does deep internal motivation (which is different than simply "really really wanting" to LD). I don't yet do regular meditation. I think that "getting my head in the right place," whatever that means, is the missing piece. And figuring out just what that means is the hard part, since nobody can help you with that.

What is it, what am I missing? One must keep asking that and just keep chugging along.

      Hi, FryingMan:

Thanks for taking the time to share your daily routine for inducing lucidity. I've seen posts on this forum about practicing All Day Awareness (still learning all these LD acronyms!) and reports of the favorable impact on attaining lucidity. I agree wholeheartedly with you about the WBTB timing. My longest, most vivid, and most easily recalled dreams occur after a WBTB - presuming I can fall back to sleep!

I also completely agree with your proposal that there is a need for a deep, genuine internal motivation as a mindset in order to better succeed at accomplishing lucidity. I'm pretty sure that a powerful motivation will help an individual accomplish ANY desired goal, so I can't imagine it would be any less true for the skill of lucid dreaming. You bring up a very valid distinction on motivation itself, though. I may need to more closely examine and perhaps even tweak the nature of my motivation in order get the benefit to be derived from a well defined, and well applied motivation towards lucid dreaming.

Well, tonight's another night! Good luck to us both!

LOL!!! Yeah, that would usually be a good tip-off that you're dreaming! Funny how TV and movie characters (both living and deceased) find their way into dreams. Its happened to me several times, and in each instance I failed to question it. Oh well...
