Unhappy Help with first lucid dream!

      Hi

I am fairly new to this forum, not to lucid dreaming though. I will tell you a bit about my earlier experiences with lucid dreaming. I was searching YouTube and I came across a documentary about lucid dreaming. I was amazed about this topic and I googled it to find out how I would achieve lucidity . I came across a YouTube channel that learns you all about lucid dreaming. I went on a video spree and tried WILD that night. I didn't really research the technique well enough and failed for the first couple of nights. One night was different though (not in a good way). I found myself in sleep paralysis. At that point I didn't know what SP was and I hadn't been so scared all my life. I was really disturbed by the things that happened in my room when I was in SP. At this point I'm terrified of SP and I really don't want to experience it again. I know that the way of thinking will influence the things you may see in SP. I tried other techniques like FILD, but they don't seem to work for me. I have been trying FILD for like a month now and I seem to just forget about it as I am falling asleep. I hope someone on this forum can maybe tell me about a technique that suits me or maybe help me with WILD. I trust you guys and if there is maybe a way to let SP become my friend instead of my enemy I am willing to try WILD again.

      Hope to get some replies.

Why not consider DILD? That's what I do...no SP, no HD, all fun and no fears.

Above should say no HH. Dang phone trying to improve on my English spelling. Aren't these things knowledgeable in LD abbreviations?

I love the feeling of SP, it tells me I have a chance of becoming lucid in the coming minutes!
If you read this do a reality check, you will thank me later...

Yeah, I should try DILD, but I feel like DILD isn't for me at all. Months of journalling my dreams dreams and reality checking. First, my dream recall is horrible and second, I can't seem to remember to make reality checking a part of my daily routine. I have tried it and it didn't really work. I only really remembered to reality check when I'm as thinking about lucid dreaming, and when I'm doing other things than laying in bed I don't really think about lucid dreaming. Maybe there is a way to make RC's a part of my daily routine and since the other methods won't really work for me I will try to research DILD a little more. Thank you for the suggestion!

You don't have to do RCs throughout the whole day like a routine cause it won't work, instead do an RC when you see or experience something weird. As for journalling, it is actually quiet fun.

Can you maybe give me an example when to do an RC or is it solely personal preference? I can't come up with something that happens in real life and in my dreams. I started a dream journal today too. It is actually really fun to see what sort weird stuff happens in your dreams.
