Looks like he is your dream sign, of course you can use him to trigger lucidity.

Why don't you just ask him if you're dreaming?

I know but, how do I make myself know that the guy only exists in my dreams, while asleep?

You say he's from a TV show you watch a lot. Whenever you watch that show and see him show up, ask yourself if you are dreaming and do a reality check. Take the time to seriously consider whether you're dreaming or not. If you do this enough, you should start doing it in your dreams. Alternatively, you could take the time to relax and visualize/daydream about this guy (kind of creepy). You would visualize yourself doing a reality check when you see this guy and imagine yourself becoming lucid in response.

Gonna be hard to RC every time he shows up. He's one of the main characters xD
But I guess I could imagine him..
