      Fading out

I used to actively try to LD, but anymore I really just don't have the energy to devote to it. Though, there are times when I still attain lucidity anyway. This happens maybe once a month. Sometimes less, but when it does occur, my entire dreamworld just fades out and I am basically staring into the darkness. I'll know I'm dreaming, and stuck in this darkness, and am unable to bring my dream back at all, or even get to a different one without waking up. Either way, its just annoying. Anyway to hold on to a dream for a little while, as opposed to letting them immediately slip away?

I probably won't be of much help, but I can relate to the "lack of energy" towards LDing. I felt that way too not long ago. I've just recently really gotten the zest back for trying to lucid dream and I'm very determined to get good at it. It's definitely tiring, though. If you haven't already tried this method and you randomly get in the mood one day to try and lucid dream I would suggest trying the WBTB method. It's probably one of the easiest and seems to work well in my opinion.

How strange that you end up trapped in darkness. Hmm...maybe try shutting your eyes and imagining the blackness turning into whiteness? Or what if you reached your hand behind you and imagined pulling something or someone towards you, or turning around to see someone? You could also maybe place your hands over your eyes like you would in real life, concentrate really intensely on a new scene appearing before you (like the beach on a sunny day) and take your hands away.

I can't say if any of this will work but you could try giving it a shot.

      Hi,

It belive it might be caused by lack of stabilization
Lucid Dreams tend to destabilize due to various reasons
And when that happens you should use some stabilization techniques.
Doing Stabilization just after you became lucid might prove benefitting to you aswell

This darkness might be just you in NREM Sleep conscious while body is still fully asleep
After dream destabilized and vanished fully it might take a few seconds for body to wake up.
You can during that time perform DEILD Tech aswell. (As long as you are in active REM Phase it will most likely work)

The sudden appearance of darkness might be just fact that you become lucid at end of the REM Phase and you are few minutes or seconds away from Dream's end?

These tutorials might help you with stuff a bit
