Lucid Dreamin and Sensory Deprivation (Floating)

I work at a sensory deprivation studio (floatation studio) and have had the unique opportunity over the past year to float as much as I want (probably somewhere between 100 and 200 hours). I've heard before that floating can help with lucid dreaming, and I have found quite a bit of success with applying my practices in the tank. Though I haven't yet had a LD in the tank, floating preps me for the night ahead in my own bed. The hypnagogic imagery that occurs while floating is very similar to what I've experienced while trying to induce a WILD, and if I spend my time focusing my intention on my awareness or a certain dream symbol, I'm certain that I can increase the frequency of the LD's I have.

I'm wondering, has anyone else floated? And if so, has it helped with your own LD success?

This sensory deprivation studio, is it a dark room with sound absorbing walls?
If you read this do a reality check, you will thank me later...

LUC1D. Ow man Im so jealous of you right now.. I have had some thought about trying "Floating". But Its really to expensive for such a short time. The price here in stockholm/Sweden is a session of 50min for 58$ And that's the cheapest I can find. How much does it cost at the place where you work?

And do you feel that you have had some improvments with yourself, with so many floating sessions?

Wow that's awesome! I have not floated, but I am jealous of the opportunity. I recently got a sparked interest in the comparisons between LD and sensory deprivation, but I wish I knew more. If anyone knows anything about sensory deprivation, please post here!

A spark of my interest came partly from the use of sleep masks while going to sleep. While it didn't help much with lucidity per se, falling asleep with a sleep mask that allowed me to open my eyes to total darkness gave me some very strange OBE type experiences (not OBEs, but it is the only comparable term I can think of for comparison). Unfortunately I was never able to go directly to lucidity from there--it always resulted in my awakening.
Do you think the sensory deprivation experiences help to strengthen brain connections that are similar to lucid dreaming?

      LD man,

Yes it is a pitch black tank with hyper saturated epsom salt water that is also sound proof and body temperature. It's the ideal place to meditate and train your awareness for lucid dreams later that night.

I would highly recommend giving floating a try. I understand it is not the cheapest thing...yet... but a single session changed my life. I live in Seattle, Washington USA and we charge $39 for your first 60 minute session in the tank. Apart from the lucid dreaming aid, I have exponentially been learning more about myself, since an hour in sensory deprivation is the most introspective thing I've ever done. The amount of personal growth in the 10 months I've been floating has been astounding.

      Give it a try!

As far as sensory deprivation goes, I am a wealth of knowledge, as I need to know a whole lot of information about the experience to put people at ease before their sessions.

I absolutely do think that the sessions help with strengthening brain connections similar to lucid dreaming. You fall into theta state, which is that grey area between waking life and sleep where all the good stuff starts to happen. I go in to the float tank with the intention of practicing my reality checks and reviewing my personal dream symbols to help train my mind to recognizance a dream while I'm in it, and I have had quite a bit of success.

Ask me anything about sensory deprivation! If I don't know the answer, I'm surrounded by colleagues that most likely would.
