      Persistent Realms question

I was reading about Persistent Realms and I thought that it seemed really cool. So I decided that I wanted to try it and I just have a few questions I am curious about.

      1. Do you have to be a very experienced LDer to do this? Or could I do it from the start?

      2. Does written text work differently in Persistent Realms? So if I looked away and then back would it still be the same? I was thinking that it should be the same because Persistent Realms are way more realistic.

That all depends on the amount of Dream Control you have. As long as you have good enough Dream Control in general, you could do it. So no you do not have to be a very experienced LDer.

I have talked to a friend, Hukif, and he is here on DreamViews. He has created many persistent realms and has read books inside of these realms. He once said that he would read entire books in these Lucid Dreams and from what I remember, the text did not change. You'll have to talk to him to get more about that, Im sure he'll see your thread sometime soon. Hukif has also stayed in these Persistent realms for really long periods of time, so really, all it takes is Dream Control and of course a little practice maybe.

OK that answered my question perfectly. Thank you very much, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

EDIT: I forgot to ask this but lets say that I wanted to have a Persistent Realm of Harry Potter, (that is one of my goals) would I have to read and memorize most of the things about the HP universe? Or could I just read it, and then my subconscious automatically remembers it in the dream? I was just wondering how that would work.

No problem man. And as for the Persistent Harry Potter realm, all you have to do is read the book. Your mind is alot more powerful than you may think, and you can remember alot more than what you know is possible. Our brain has this thing called Tacit Knowledge. Basically, its everything that we know, but we don't think we know. This could be anything from a persons name that you just met yesterday that you can't seem to remember- to things like what color of shirt your friend was wearing last week. Stuff like that. So in all, just read the book. However, even if you don't read the book, your subconscious can still create an HP realm to the best effort that it knows about Harry Potter, and you may find that it already has a pretty good knowledge of it.

That's actually pretty cool! I was thinking your brain could do something like that but I wasn't certain about it so I had to ask. Also, I have read all 7 books so I'm good in the department, (and I've read the first 4 twice ) but lets say I'm reading a book in the HP Realm about History of Magic, would my brain just fill in stuff if the books didn't say anything about it?

And if I wanted to have all the spells, could I just go on the HP wiki and read all the spells and their effects and descriptions and then my brain will remember them all?

Thank you again. And sorry for more questions, they just keep on pooping into my mind.

Lol, a little spelling error , but yea its cool man, I like to do my best to help

lets say I'm reading a book in the HP Realm about History of Magic, would my brain just fill in stuff if the books didn't say anything about it?
Yes it would do exactly that. It may add stuff that would be more relevant to Harry Potter, but it could also add in completely random stuff as well. Be prepared for anything .

And if I wanted to have all the spells, could I just go on the HP wiki and read all the spells and their effects and descriptions and then my brain will remember them all?
This has been debated alot, but I believe that yes, it can remember them all. It would only make sense considering the fact that every night in your dreams, your brain creates scenery, characters, flavors in food, and all that other great stuff. In short, I would say yea, your brain definitely would. However, if maybe you wanted to make sure without a doubt that it would remember them all, you should read over those spells like you would normally read anything. I wouldn't just skim over them and read really fast(Unless you are a fast reader), but thats just what I think. Skimming over the text could maybe work as well, but I'm not sure, you'd have to try it out.

I would say, if you know Latin then it won't be a problem. The HP spells are based off that language, so a latin word = spell related to the meaning and so you could even create new ones while figure them out.

But yes, reading in dreams isn't as difficult as most people think it is. Text however does change slightly for me, it may take a few re-reads but some letters will start to change or maybe even a whole word. I believe this is different for everyone, so you should check your own reading limits in dreams.

lol I didn't realize that until now.

And thank you both for helping me out with this. I now understand what I have to do.

And thanks Hukif for answering my question about text as well.

OK so I don't think that I'm going to be reading all of the spells for Harry Potter. It seems that would take a very long time and also, I want to be surprised with what spells my mind makes up. Since there can basically be a spell for anything, is this a good idea? Would my mind be able to come up with its own spells in addition to the HP spells I already know and would it still be as good of an experience?

      Thanks in advance.

I would say yes, that is a good idea. Just check some latin words to get an idea of how they would be named though, to keep the plot together.
