A Lucid dream just 45-60 min. after falling asleep

I'm amazed about this whole event. I went to bed at about 01:30 (in the morning) and woke up at 02:40 to record my most recent lucid dream. This lucid dream has been the most vivid one I've experienced as of this moment. The whole thing was very detailed and I felt so amazed and absorbed in it.

This particular dream has sparked my curiosity as I don't know where to categorize it. My initial deduction was that I had lived what I thought was the inner workings of a REM-rebound effect. However, I've been getting sufficient sleep during this whole week (approximately 7-9 hrs. a day). Now, I don't know much about NREM dreams and how they arise or how they differ from traditional REM dreams, so I don't know whether a dream like this could take part at the NREM stage of sleep. Still, even if a REM-rebound caused the dream, I've never remembered a dream after such a small time frame from the moment I fell asleep.

So, I don't know, where would you put a dream like this?

I wouldn't put it anywhere, really. All too often I will wake up a few minutes (like 20 or so) after going to sleep with the memory of a fuzzy dream, it is like a movie-lucid instead of a normal one and people say that NREM dreams are like that but I/most of us can't be sure so I wouldn't put it anywhere.

Either way, one hour sounds like a good time for your first REM cycle to take place in, how long did the dream feel? Generally speaking the REM in earlier cycles will be much shorter than those of a latter cycle so you could have just gotten lucid really early?

Well, it usually takes around 90 min. for the first REM period to take place in the sleep cycle. Still, that's the general norm. I'm not sure what might constitute as the natural range of time it might take for the first REM period to start. Is it a ±10 min. difference? Is a ±30 min. difference common? Also, I wouldn't say I slept for the whole hour, it was roughly 40-45 min. Normally it takes me about 20-30 min. to fall asleep. But, I don't know, you could be right though and this might be a dream that took place in the first REM period of the night.

The dream was approximately 2-3 min. long. I'm going to infer this is a rather short lucid dream experience, though all of my other lucid dreams usually take this much time or less to end. I have to add that I'm not that experienced with lucid dreaming right now; usually the dream falls apart as soon as I get lucid and I haven't managed to take control of my actions when in a lucid state. So, while the dream is indeed short, that could be a reflection of my current level of experience with lucidity. In regards to when did I attained lucidity, it was actually at the very end of the dream.

From what I've read, many describe a dream in the first REM period as fragmented and unclear for the most part. The experience I had with this lucid dream was entirely opposite. It felt incredibly vivid, had a consistent plot that managed to sustain itself for the entirety of the dream and I could remember all of it with great detail.

Well I also suck at falling asleep so can't say much about the first part?

One thing to note is that most people describe first period dreams as fragmented not because they are like that, but because they can't remember it properly due to the time of the day they happen at. Heck, since it happens so early one will most likely forget they woke up from the dream and just remember about it very later on when the memory is fuzzy and fragmented already.

I remember my first dreams of the night with a lot of detail, so wouldn't say its impossible to remember these dreams with high clairity. I wonder, did you wake up after the dream or did the memory come back at you later in the morning after getting up for good?

I woke up as soon as the dream ended. Shortly after gaining lucidity I could feel a strong vibrating pulse all around me, I could feel the dream starting to destabilize and after 8-12 sec. I woke up. After that I immediately recorded my dream as well as the time I wrote it, 02:42. It's interesting though, rarely do I wake up after so little amount of sleep, so I'm curious as to what might have prompted this sudden increase in clarity and awareness so early in the sleep cycle.
