Well, it usually takes around 90 min. for the first REM period to take place in the sleep cycle. Still, that's the general norm. I'm not sure what might constitute as the natural range of time it might take for the first REM period to start. Is it a ±10 min. difference? Is a ±30 min. difference common? Also, I wouldn't say I slept for the whole hour, it was roughly 40-45 min. Normally it takes me about 20-30 min. to fall asleep. But, I don't know, you could be right though and this might be a dream that took place in the first REM period of the night.
The dream was approximately 2-3 min. long. I'm going to infer this is a rather short lucid dream experience, though all of my other lucid dreams usually take this much time or less to end. I have to add that I'm not that experienced with lucid dreaming right now; usually the dream falls apart as soon as I get lucid and I haven't managed to take control of my actions when in a lucid state. So, while the dream is indeed short, that could be a reflection of my current level of experience with lucidity. In regards to when did I attained lucidity, it was actually at the very end of the dream.
From what I've read, many describe a dream in the first REM period as fragmented and unclear for the most part. The experience I had with this lucid dream was entirely opposite. It felt incredibly vivid, had a consistent plot that managed to sustain itself for the entirety of the dream and I could remember all of it with great detail.
