I think probably #1 is to transform your attitude and to start serious work on self-development. Make yourself into a person that *you* would want to spend time with. Gaining knowledge, skills, learning compassion via volunteering, taking up hobbies that interest *you*, and are not just a "way to bag a chick," are good places to start. Read, learn, use your time wisely. I'm currently pushing the book "Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation In Everyday Life" as a great way to learn how to live. The author, Jon Kabat-Zinn, also wrote a book called "Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of You Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness," which probably is also a very good book for you to read (and perhaps to start with).
Oh, and mature women have: daughters, nieces, friends with daughters, granddaughters, etc. And can be quite nice to talk to and spend time with in their own right.
In short, go out and live! Don't place your happiness in a vague "dating" future, learn to live in and appreciate each present moment, because that's all that we every really have, anyway.
