Exclamation How can I get back my progress?

I made a lot of progress last month and now this month I feel as if all of that progress has been lost due to me going on a cruise for 4 days...

This is my dream journal in September (red dots represent days I've written in Journal)

And this is my dj in October

(Sorry if images are small I dont really know how to put them in properly)

Ever since the cruise on about Sunday 3rd of October I have lost it, last month I had at least 3-4 dreams per night and now I barely can remember 1! Can someone please help me get back into it, thanks!

Just follow the advice of your avatar . Keep calm and (lucid) dream. Vacations and travel (jet lag is the WORST! I'm still completely upside down) can interfere with dreaming.

Just keep on keepin' on: build a solid basis in the fundamentals: access to memory and self-awareness. Pay attention to your experiences in the present, and recall your experiences in the past (both dreaming and waking).

I have let go of my dream journals for over half an year and have lost detail and vividness of my dream recalls, I'm also trying to redevelop my lucidity. I found that usually when I couldn't write down my dreams, retelling the dreams to someone had almost the same effect. Try to at least go over the dreams out loud by yourself. It might help a little. It takes a lot less times than writing down the whole thing and you can still enjoy vacations. Maybe even record it on your phone and write it down concisely later on when you have time.

I actually have an app on my iPad which I use for my dream journal, rather than me writing it down the old fashioned way.

Thanks for the replies, I will try to use them to get back into it

I've been keeping a dream journal for over a decade, although only a small fraction of my dreams are in my DJ here on Dreamviews. My entries have varied by as much as 100+ per year. There are years where I made an entry every day for 3 months, and years where I didn't make a single entry in 6 months.

Point in case: this year, I hadn't made an entry almost all year. When I started making regular entries again, my dream recall was so poor that one of my entries last week was basically "I don't remember anything". After a few nights and some regular journaling, my recall's almost as good as it ever was, although I'm not having the sort of success with induction that I'm accustomed to. But I've been at this long enough to know that after maybe 2 or 3 weeks of regular journal entries, I'll be back in practice, so there's no reason to panic over a few failed WILD attempts.

Journaling and lucidity are skills that, once you learn them, you don't “un-learn” them. You just get a little bit out of practice. You don't lose progress, you only ever make progress. You only ever have more journal entries than you did the last time you made a journal entry.

Spend a week making an entry every night, even if your entry is “I don't remember”. The important thing is that you are trying to remember. I think you'll find that you'll regain your dream recall and you'll be just fine.

I noticed that I'm dependent on journals, when I kept journals my dream recall was more detailed and vivid as well as my awareness within the dream sharper, but having strayed off dream journaling for over half an year I had noticed that my dream recall as well as awareness had dulled quite a bit. However, my significant other had never kept a dream journal and had a knack of having lucid dreams and very clear dream recall on her own. I guess everyone is different, for some of us a aid of sorts is required to coax our faculties.
