Dream Fog? General Drowsiness and Fatigue During Lucids.

      Hey guys,

In the past couple of months, I've had three LD's on about a 3-week interval. Every time I became lucid it was simply due to noticing the general "feel" of the dream or noticing something off.

Anyway, in terms of what I'd like to experience in an ideal lucid: I'd like to have full control of my actions, be able to be present in a dream in the same way as in reality (being able to feel all senses at once), and potentially have control over the situation. I've had a couple of dreams like this in my distant past, but lately, one or more of these criteria is never met.

In essence, in the past few lucids I've had, I stabilize the dream and then try to do things that I'd like to. However, it seems that every time I get to this stage, my brain is in a sort of "dream fog", where I just feel incredibly drowsy and unable to focus on much of anything, including the dream and dream goals. I realize that control comes with practice, but this fatigue issue has been rather irritating and demotivating.

      Here are my "symptoms":
      - General inability to focus: I can't recall dream goals or much of anything.
      - Inability to move properly: Most of the time, I end up teleporting or just floating over to where I want to be, which isn't really exciting.
      - Very constricted time. I've been able to have only 5-10 second lucids these past few times.
      - Being stuck in a kind of vegetative state where I can only see what's directly in front of me, unable to move or do anything.

Do any of you know a way around any of this? Is it a matter of sleep deprivation? Is there some stabilization technique to check out? I'd love to experience LD's to their fullest, but it's really hard to when I can't think or move.

      Thanks,
      Jelly

That's just going to happen from time to time but yea how much sleep are you getting? If you can get a WBTB and then not have to set your alarm after that and be in REM after 9+ hours of sleep I bet you won't feel that way ha. I need to do that too my last 2 dreams after WBTB's all I've wanted to do is sleep in the dreams lol. My mind and body are just like nope we aren't doing this now until you treat us better.

You can always try stabilizing your LDs, there are many ways of doing so and you will have a better sense of actually being "awake".. Try spinning around or rubbing or hands or even try do some mantras before you sleep. But like robertcox said, it will happen from time to time and don't expect it to be perfect every time - even though you should

Hopefully this helps and if I understand what you're saying, it should help because I've done it and it works, good luck with your lucid dreams!

      Hey guys,

Thank you for your replies. I figured something like dream stabilization might help. The one method I've tried in previous LDs is simply focusing on some aspect of the dream (a microwave, the pavement, etc.) but these last couple of times it seems like I can't even do that.

I'll certainly have to try the rubbing hands one! It seems smart since it sounds like it stimulates a sense OTHER than sight. Is the process of stimulating each sense within the dream essentially the key to dream stabilization and fully "waking up"?

I did a WBTB last night with no luck -- I think I woke up too early (4:00 after going to bed at 10:30). I'll keep trying though, and I'll post if anything happens.

      Thanks again,

It is the key for me that's for sure! Definitely keep trying and update your results
Just remember to focus and be aware of your surroundings in your dreams, and touch or even smell will be great, the hand works best for me, anyways back to bed I go. Goodnight!

      Good luck with your dreaming!

Stimulate each sense... hmm I will definitely have to try that I like the sound of it. I have been rubbing my hands together more but just a real quick 10 seconds of working each sense and maybe calling upon some food to stimulate taste and smell.

      Hey guys,

Just wanted to get back to ya. So last night I had my first lucid ever since (New Year's present I guess ), and it went much better than my others. Heck, I caught my first FA, and had my first DEILD as well! You can read it here if you want.

In this case, I didn't feel nearly as much of a "fog" as just a lack of stability, which I totally expect since I'm a newbie. But it's great to be back to it!
