Gonna do my LD for the first time

So tonight i am gonna give my first try to do my lucid dream..

But i am very scared thougth.

I really dont wanna get the Sleep paralysies or what ever you call it.. Its seriously gonna freak me out so bad.

Aswell i am scared that im gonna end up in a false awakening, and is it possible that i may get lost and never wake up again?

And if i end up getting sleep paralysed, can i get out of it fast?

I am gonna use the WTBT method..

      Thanks for answears :9

You should not be scared of Sleep Paralysis. There is nothing to be afraid of. If you happen to get into SP,, which is a less than 10% chance if you're just doing WBTB, just altering your breathing pattern will get you out of it. But just remember, SP is a gateway to a free Lucid. There is no reason to be scared, after all - you're only being scared by yourself. Stop thinking about SP and crack on

      Darkrobin!

You probably won't experience sleep paralysis. It's relatively rare; I've only experienced it a few times in the few years I've been LDing. If you do experience it, stay calm while trying to wiggle your toes until the paralysis wears off.

It's more likely that you'll experience a false awakening. But, there's nothing to be worried about here. It's just a dream about waking up. If you dream about waking up, it's possible you could get lost, but you will wake up for real eventually.

You could experience real pain, but you won't die! Don't worry!

Don't worry, you can't die from sleep paralysis there is nothing dangerous about it. In fact, there's no reason it has to be an unpleasant experience it just means your body is taking a bit longer to wake up, you have sleep paralysis every night and have never even noticed it.

Also, even if you do WILD you most likely won't feel sleep paralysis. I have been lucid dreaming for years and only felt mild stiffness on ocasion. It wares off pretty quickly if you want it to. It isn't what some people make it out to be. Most of the the threads talking about how it is scary are from other people who haven't experienced it like this one.

Darkrobin, remember a lucid dream is nothing more than one in which you become aware you are dreaming. So nothing to fear...you have dreamed 5 times a night for your whole life without mishap. Some dreams you probably vaguely recall....only difference is you are more present in the lucid dream while it is occurring, and thus will probably recall it more clearly just like a real life memory. And since you know it is a dream (by definition) you know nothing can hurt you. Pain is minor in my experience, if you experience it at all. I have had only minor pain in non lucid dreams, actually, and none ever in lucid dreams.

What you experience every night is REM atonia, not sleep paralysis. You experience REM atonia every time you go into REM sleep, and it's what keeps you from physically acting out your dreams; sleep paralysis, on the other hand, is when REM atonia continues after you wake up.
