Well, my understanding from what I read is that people who are depressed have a larger percentage of REM sleep and less deep sleep. And that is more tiring less restorative. However, this is the case regardless of whether the R.E.M. sleep is lucid or nonlucid dreams. So either way, when depressed less restful night. Lucid dreams are not any more tiring than nonlucid. When depressed most nonlucid dreams tend to be unpleasant (tidal waves and floods, driving without a break, death, etc.). So if one manages to have a lucid dream, one can improve upon that, and make the dream more pleasant and then one will also be more pleased during daytime following a lucid pleasant dream. That may not cure one's depression, but it is likely to result in at least one better day, following the lucid dream. When depressed, any better day is a welcome thing.
