      Lucid Dream MILD questions?

Hi there. I've been getting into MILD lately after reading laberges books.I did the challenges for a week and was able to get them all the time and have started to try MILD. I have no LDs yet but my dream recall is better and my dreams do feel more vivid. However, when doing MILD, what do you do when your mind wanders and should the mantra be the last thing on you're mind? As well, even if I have no LD's yet, should I keep trying MILD to be consistent?

In my experience, the effectiveness of MILD has a correlation to how much importance I put on a mantra--almost like trying to memorize something like an address or a phrase without writing a note. So, you would want to place the mantra at the forefront of your mind at first. Repeat the mantra and think about what end result you're trying to achieve. Ideally, you want either the mantra or something related to the mantra to be your last thought before falling asleep.
Also, don't forget that mantras aren't the only component of MILD; it will be more effective with reality checks and high dream recall.

As for consistency, I recommend continued use of MILD for at least another week or two. If don't end up any closer to your goal at the end of that period, I would pick a different technique to try for 2 weeks or so. Perhaps returning to MILD afterwards will allow you to approach it at a different angle than before, getting you closer to your goal. On the other hand, if MILD does in fact work and you achieve your goal, there's no reason to stop using it.

I don't know the optimal amount of wakefulness. If you can go to sleep at all, you can use MILD. You can even use MILD at the beginning of the night and still produce some kind of result.
