Sometimes I see unpleasant dream characters and think I can lose them if I move away fast enough but they are always able to keep up with me, even if I fly.

I've never tried Maya, but did once try the free alternative Blender. I feel this kind of software is far more advanced than what I require; the learning curve in Blender to even do something extremely simple was super steep.

My preferred tool was the Build engine (Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior, etc.), which let me easily create and edit my dream layouts in minutes, but obviously this engine has a lot of limitations and it's ancient by today's standards.

There is a game/tool coming out for PS4 called Dreams, which is a creation tool that is supposed to be about doing exactly this, but I fear the kind of aesthetics and functionality it will allow may be extremely limited, as it's not clear if they mean "Dreams" in the literal sense (i.e. flexibility to create an accurate representation of what you dreamed or imagined), or just in the fantastical sense. I fear it may be the latter, and I'm kind of not interested in a creation tool if it forces all of my creations to look like a quirky child's play room.

Interesting. My reaction in a lucid dream is usually to befriend unpleasant characters, which typically causes them to change and become nice.
