It has been a very long time since my last lucid...

      Hi dreaming people!

It has been a long time since I don't follow dreams anymore because of it turned in a very frustrating activity. They happen from time to time but no more lucids since a couple of years now, as long as I can remember I got only normal dreams, beautifully vivid and surreal enough but no lucid at all. I was pretty active on lucid dreaming but somehow, my sleep patterns are wasted. First time with a night job, I had a few hours to sleep. And my new job doesn't allow me to generate a proper sleep pattern to follow. because of it's week-shifted.
Any advice? Get a new job? No way, you can forget about it, I won't change it. Is there any other thing to try to get back in the game? I was thinking on trying Melatonin, but don't know a name to look for; the search results show food supplements to increase the production of it but I think it's not my case because of my sleeping time is not long enough in the first place and changes from one week to another which is the worse imo.

Thanks for any reply, no matter if it's for fun, feel free to screw my post if you want, you're welcome

Cheerz from an old lucid dreamer who's in his worse dry spell now. happy lucid dreaming for those who can

I've had a lot of luck becoming lucid using Galantamine and Choline. I combine it with doing a WILD procedure and WBTB. Yeah, I know it's not a natural way of doing it, but I seem to need the supplements as a trigger. Haven't had much luck otherwise. Maybe using supplements initially will at least get you back on track.

Just start writing again, every morning. Even if you don't remember anything, write something along the lines of "I had no recollection." Also, don't forget the reality checks.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't worry to much about sleep patterns to much. Placebo and what not. Yeah, it sucks but I'm in that same boat. You still dream though, and in my opinion it's mostly mind over matter.

Melatonin from my understanding and recollection is a hormone in which the less you take, the better your recollection. There's a few other Oneirogens you can take such as, 5HTP, Valerian Root, Saint Johns Wort, as well as Calea Z, which is the nastiest tea you could drink but it's fairly worth it, not approved by FDA and what not though.

There's ways though, like I said set your alarm 15 minutes earlier, and just start writing from nothing or even go the route of dream incubating for writing practice and give you something to think about and induce with, I found the r/worldbuilding subbreddit extremely useful for that. Though, there's hundreds of dreamers journals here to get ideas from as well.

Yeah, may be I'm lacking of motivation and nothing more. Although wouldn't mind taking some chemical help

Nice to see you posting again, Box77!

My advice would, sadly, be to get a new job, but even when waking-life activity interferes with your dreaming life, there is still stuff you can do.

First, just get some melatonin as supplement; don't try to "find" it in the food you're eating, but rather just buy a jar full of 3mg melatonin pills, and find the dosage that works best for you (I recommend that you keep it under 20mg per dose, though, 'cause you don't want to screw up your natural melatonin production).... melatonin supplements are pretty common now, so if you trust the site you're on (i.e., iHerb.com), you can trust that the supplements they're selling might be reliable. Next, you can use your work schedule to your benefit: 3rd shifters, for instance, have a mild advantage in skills like WILD, because sleep is always waiting for them, just 'round the corner.

if you live in the north you could just go out and pick some mugwort and put it in your tea b4 bed also a teaspoon of Rosemary in tea might help with your memory :-) .

Hey Sageous! Nice to read you again

Yeah! Unfortunately getting a new job isn't an option. You know, family first.

I tried to look for some Melatonin stuff on the he web, but the Amazon search engine shows mostly food supplements and some stuff with a name similar to Melatonin but no Melatonin itself. May be I'll try more specific websites as you recommend.
I decided to take advantage from naps after work, I jump the whole sleep cycle thing straight to dream state, today had a couple of vague FA and a couple of days ago a nice HH, it's funny not to notice when I closed my eyes

I know propolis triggers something, although I take that just to enforce my immune system when catching a cold. Didn't hear about mugwort. Do they sell it on some stores or I find it just in the woods?

Not to sound like some sort of supplements-pusher, but:

I've found that the melatonin I pick up at my local WalMart works pretty well. It's a reputable enough brand (either Spring Valley or Nature Made), and melatonin is listed as the only active ingredient. I buy them in 3 or 10mg, but there other dose choices as well. They might be a food supplement, but to date they've worked quite well for me. I don't know where you live, but melatonin has become a pretty popular sleep aid, so you shouldn't have trouble finding it at your local brick-n-mortar.

      Just sayin', not sellin'
