      Reading Text Vs Numbers

So last night I had a dream, I was at an airport, I bought a ticket and looked at it. It wasn't like a regular ticket though. It said (I remember this clearly) Floor 6 and Terminal 175. There was another number but I cannot remember it. There was also text on the ticket , but I couldn't read it. I know you cannot see text in dreams, but I saw numbers. So is there a difference between looking at text Vs Numbers?

      Welcome to Dream Views!

You can see text in dreams—I read in dreams all the time. For many people, text may be difficult to make out or decipher, but this is by no means a hard and fast rule. (And an important thing to keep in mind about dreams is that while there are common trends, there are very few, if any, absolute “rules”.)

Dreams are a highly individual thing, so I don't think there's any universal difference between text vs. numbers that applies to everyone. They're both just systems of symbols for communicating abstract concepts.

I have personally been able to read both text and numbers in a dream before, but I know many can't read either to the point that dream text is their reality check. I did once experiment with doing larger math problems on a piece of paper in a dream because I was curious as to whether it was possible because you can't do those problems in your head while awake because you need to be able to keep track of each step with a piece of paper, but in a dream you can write it on a piece of paper to keep track of it. In the end I couldn't do the problem because every time I glanced away from a number, it would change by the time I looked back. I'm curious if anyone else has been successful with it.

I haven't tried doing a large math problem, I don't think, but changing text is definitely a common theme (even if I can read it, it frequently doesn't read the same way twice). I can spot this easily in lucid dreams and use it as a reality check; in nonlucid dreams I usually don't realize it's changing at all and just wind up getting really confused.

I dreamt I was writing chapter 6 of my fanfiction about legends of tomorrow. I wish I remember what I wrote. Words lost! Also sometimes as I'm falling asleep I close my eyes and read sentences and paragraphs.

Ooh, I've had that happen. It's quite fun and fascinating, but like other things I think of and imagine while half-asleep, the content can be very hard to remember afterwards.

Remember that ultimately, what you can and can't see in dreams, comes down to your own expectations and beliefs.
