Question How do you 'resume' a dream?

I just had an amazing dream last night...

But I want to continue on with it. I already have the dream written down, but the thing is I have neither done nor experienced this before. Have any tips?

I don't have much experience doing this, but I think the most direct way to continue a dream would be to use DEILD to incubate the dream scene. Decide what dream scene you want to have before going to bed. Go to sleep, and as soon as possible after waking up, start imagining being in this dream scene and keep imagining being there until a dream appears. Feel free to interact with this dream scene by moving around, looking around, talking with dream characters, ect. Try to maintain the expectation that this will be the dream you enter.

That seems like a pretty solid plan. I think I remember unintentionally trying to do that the same night, but the dream I went back to was so far removed from its original source it might as well been a completely different dream altogether. I think it was about alien reptiles turning people into other aliens?...

Definitely will try this out tonight.

I tried this last night, and although I did have a DEILD, even while I was imagining the dream scene I wanted during the dream I was having, I was still not able incubate the dream I wanted. So, expectation and motivation is actually everything when it comes to dream incubation.

The expectations and motivations required for our desired dream have to be changed from "can't" into "can" and "won't" into "will." We have to think that we can have the dream we want and that we will have the dream we want. Identifying when this isn't the case can help us explain why we aren't having the dreams we want. For example, during the dream I had, I thought I couldn't have the dream I wanted because what I was trying wasn't working. We have to believe in our abilities to have the dreams we want.

As for motivation, if we are not motivated enough to have our desired dream, it is probably because we are even more motivated to have other dreams. Identifying and resolving the motivations behind those motivations might help make our desired dream important enough to be dreamed about.

I’ve had some success with a DILD where I simply stop time then spawn and despawn everything so that it looks like the previous dream and start time again, like the dream is continuing. I’ve failed this a few times but I also got it to work mostly a few times

Oh, about last night, I went to bed really, really tired, so I didn't have the mental capacity to do any induction techniques. Don't worry, I'll try again today and post back to this thread and see how it went.

Sorry for the late reply, but I did get to try this a second time so, yay? Anyways, my first attempt didn't work, since I felt really queasy (I'm sick right now). But the next day, it worked. Not as well as I thought it would, but for the most part the setting, "plot", and characters remained largely the same. A lot of personal stuff happened in the dream so I won't go over it really.
