      Lucid Euphoria: Why?

Through-out my lucid voyages, I have experienced the seemingly well-known phenomenon of 'lucid euphoria', a term I may have seen in the works of Waggoner and LaBerge. Nonetheless, I am curious as to whether this experience is the joy justified from diligent practice and it's final realization, whether it relates to some sort of higher awareness, or whether it is 'expected' from various readings. However, more interestingly, does it really destabilize the dream state?

Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.

Euphoria refers not only to happiness, but also excitement. The excited emotion is actually a surprise emotion, not a happy emotion. Incidentally, on this wheel of emotions, the emotion of "excited" is adjacent to the "joyful" emotion you described, which is a happy emotion. In general, it seems like that the closer an emotion is to another on this wheel, the more similar they are to each other.

More specifically, the emotions "energetic" and "liberated" are next to both each other and the line between surprise and happiness. Accomplishing a goal like becoming lucid can cause one to become energetic, especially if a lot of work went into achieving the goal or if the goal was otherwise difficult to achieve. At the same time, becoming lucid can be liberating because there are usually less restrictions in dreams.

It is not just you. Lucid states can feel very good. The experiences can behave much like the effects of narcotics like opium, or like mushrooms. Some of the joy can be basic things like spiritual bliss due to experiencing kundalini while dreaming. Much of it is that you are aware while you are asleep. The body is heavily sedated and the brain function has shifted in very real ways. You are possibly feeling the amazing chemicals used to keep you sedated and really liking how they feel.

Getting caught up in the energy and joyfulness/bliss could lead you away from focus on the fact that this is a dream. Therefore could end a dream, if you are not constantly reaffirming lucidity. The act of sex does have a high risk of destabilizing dreams. That sucks!

Is it even possible to not feel urge for euphoria when you suddenly realize that you can do anything?
In fact, I feel strong euphoria in clear DILDs only, because the "phase shift" is so sudden compared to WILD.
And yes, this wild feeling makes the dream unstable for me, so one must learn to tame oneself. Isn't it a general feature for all dreamers?

Neither do I, but I always do in a high quality DILD. It is a learned behavior for me to suppress the urge for mighty euphoria, in order to stabilize the dream.

I’ve only experienced this around 3 times before. I’ve found that very very rarely, when I’m lucid, I experience an extreme emotional shift where all of a sudden, I will feel extremely happy.

This has always happened for me when I’m lucid and I decide to stop following the plot of the dream and just do whatever I want.

An example of this was recently when I became lucid and stopped following the story that was happening and I entered a sort of resort with a glass roof and just stopped for the rest of the dream to look up into the sky. Another time when this happened, I stopped while climbing a tower and looked off into the distance and just observed my surroundings and thought “I don’t see a view like this every day”

For me, this feeling comes when I both become lucid and instead of trying to use my powers, I decide to sit and relax. Not sure if anyone else has this experience but interested to see.
