Returning to lucid dreaming, Some experience.

So I plan to start attempting to lucid dream again, before when I was more interested, I used a technique where i just focused on my breathing. Sometimes I still do this as it helps me sleep but if I dont stop focusing I will end up in sleep paralysis. I can do this on command, anywhere, and fall asleep as long as its silent. Obviously its much harder if im energized, but last night I was pretty tired and decided Id start focusing on my breathing again. Pushing out all other thoughts. Just breathing. I ended up in sleep paralysis like normal, but this time there was almost a window of light behind my eye lids. I tried to focus on it and it got a little brighter, I thought for a second I might end up in a lucid dream. But alas. It dissipated and I was still in sleep paralysis. I forced myself out of it and just went to bed. Is there any way I can reach lucid dreaming through sleep paralysis? Im normally a chicken when i enter sp, but I feel the time is right now.

You can. But I think it would be easier if you didn't go through SP first. By the time you end up in sleep paralyzis. And correct me if I'm wrong here, I've never had SP, so it's not something I know a lot about.... But... by that time you could have already started a dream if you had let yourself fall asleep instead of forcing too much awareness, and it would be a normal WILD. The aim of WILD is to fall asleep...

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are doing this when going to bed in the evening, there is a good chance that you're not ready to have a dream yet. REM sleep comes later.

But all in all, it sounds like you could have lucid dreams if you do WBTB and then do what you have been doing.

If you attain SP you might well try for an OBE; that may not be a lucid dream, but it would probably not be less of an experience.
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

      Welcome back, zoomer428.

One thing you could try is to imagine yourself moving around. Calmly pretend you are moving your hands, rolling off the bed, or what have you. Chances are, you'll end up doing as much. That's the cue that you're already dreaming. I'd recommend imagining your doing something that would help stabilize the dream, like hand rubbing.
