      Very Odd Phenomenon

I'm not sure I will be able to explain this to convey the events to you people sucessfully, but I'll try. First I'll start with a little bit of history. Usually when falling asleep I will get several instances where my imagination will start coming up with things that make no sense, and I realise soon after but this continues for a bit. After that the same thing will happen but I will slip into a dream during the course of it, and wake up soon after. This happens a couple of times before I finally fall asleep and they are never very deep-sleep dreams.

However last night (or the night before?) I started to get something entirely different. I would carry on with my imagination running off with me as usual. These thoughts would take on dream form again and I would lose complete controll as if I were in a dream. Now I am definately not lucid at this point. Here is where the difference comes in however. When I "wake up" from one of these it isn't as if i wake up from anything at all. My body and mind feel exactly as if I had been conscious the whole time and they were just my thoughts. There is no chance they are just my thoughts however, because they are extremely vivid and detailed. I know this doesn't sound too significant in type, but trust me, it is worlds away from what I described in the first paragraph.

I almost always realize at some point it is happenening, but in my attempts to focus on reamining lucid I become unable to be swept away and regain consciousness.

So what are these? Dreams with no brain-sleep, or no body-sleep? Fast slips from waking into full-on dreams? Half-hearted WILDs? Anyone else experience this?

Basically like a full-on dream throughout that is faded into from consciousness, but upon waking from it, it is unmistakably clear that I was never asleep. Its a very tough call.

Barbizzle is probably right. Occasionally, when I'm falling asleep, I'll start seeing things more vividly than I could possibly imagine them, and it's almost dream-like, but I'll still be awake. It's probably the result of daydreaming directing the hypnagogic imagery that you're seeing, or at least directing your interpretation of it, causing you to see what you do. I've also noticed that imagination often tends to become more vivid when going to sleep, another possible factor contributing to whats going on here.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

I call these things "dreamlike states" , because they arent exactly dreams.

The exact reason why they happen is not very clear, I noticed that a lot of weird stuff happens when I'm overly aware or trying to take a nap while not being allowed to sleep (as in on a job ) .

An example of what happens to me: pretty much I'm laying in bed, relaxing. Suddenly there is no more darkness around me and I see the close representation of the surroundings. I can see some events happening. For example if the room I'm napping has an open door, I can hear real events and see imaginary people passing by and sometimes looking in. I know those people arent there. It is a very fun state. Sometimes I've experienced overwhelming sense of peace and bliss.

Same thing happens when I decide to take a nap in class, but I cant afford to miss the lecture. I still hear the professor and the same "see through closed eyes" thingie happens...

Sometimes the illusionary world doesnt mimic the real world. For example I may find myself sitting somewhere talking/doing something...

      Do you experience something similar?
