Think I've Managed to Lucid at Will

      Hi All,

I am an advanced novice having read several lucid books and practiced it in the 2010's somewhat. Anyway, during this month of April, I have successfully lucid dreamed four out of 5 days! I cannot believe my luck! I have been waking up naturally at 8:00am, utilizing WB2B while coupling it with binaural beats. (Apparently, I'm not allowed to mention this on reddit. They call it a placebo effect.) Anyway, I merely browse my phone for 30 minutes and then go back to bed. I try not to do anything but become aware of the sensation of my pillow under my head. 10 minutes later, I have sight in the dream and can consciously move. That alone normally means I'm lucid.

During the beginning of the dreams, I immediately do a reality check and know that my hands are always on my body. I faithfully stabilize the dream the best I can by looking at my hand and then away. This sharpens the clarity of the dream tenfold. I resume the dream, while interacting and moving about. Anybody else notice how often lucid dreams can get sexual? I don't think this is particularly a good thing, due to me being single and religious.

I am proud of using everything at my disposal. For instance, my lucids often get dark, blurry, and the lights fade away. This usually prompts me to wake up prematurely. However, I use anchoring techniques, standing still and keeping my eyes closed. I often return to the same spot or dream as before and continue. Sometimes if the dream isn't interesting, I bail out by spinning around. This technique is good for changing the dream on the spot!

One cool moment was when I asked a woman to blow and whisper in my ear (ASMR style.) It was so realistic and sensual. Very cool. Anyway, besides this bout of success, I don't know what else to do? Any good techniques or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading! PS: I don't know if I can mention the sexual encounters in these lucid dreams or not. It was pretty intense too.

Congrats on your recent lucid success. I’m not familiar with the research surrounding binaural beats but the experienced lucid dreamers and teachers I follow tend to agree there isn’t any real benefit to them. I think you’re success is more likely to do with the optimal time you wake up (closer to morning when REM cycles are longer), the amount of time you’re awake (Increases mental clarity and brings your focus back to your intention to lucid dream) and then falling asleep with focus on your pillow (an anchor that can help keep your awareness on your goal as you fall back asleep). Sounds like you’ve got a good thing going right now and you should continue as you are, but I think the binaural beats are likely not the reason for your success. You could replace them with more beneficial things like reading your dream journal, visualisation or even meditation, as long as your activity is reinforcing your intention to have a lucid dream it should help.

Also, Reddit doesn’t have the best reputation for Lucid dreaming information. I would recommend the book Exploring the world of lucid dreaming or the YouTube channel Lucid Dream portal as good resources for tips and info.

I agree with tiktaalik both the YouTube channel “Lucid dream portal” and exploring the world of lucid dreaming have been and continue to be very helpful resources for me.
