I wouldn't think so. If anything I'd think you'd be more relaxed and able to concentrate - at least I am afterwards...oh, come one - everyone does it!

But maybe another guy should answer your question...

hahah, alrite the childish giggle is over.
In all seriousness I don't think there is any correlation between the two.

I think there is a correlation.

If one releases their load, there will be a decrease in the vividness of dream, proportional to how much is released.
If one masturbates, but retains their load, the more "energy" built up, the more vivid dreams will be. When the vividness of a dream increases, so does awareness, and possibility of lucidity.

Of course, not that many guys can start without finishing. Ladies

i think that masturbastion and/or great sex ( or even mediocre sex if that's all that;s available) are usually an aide to just about any endeavor, including varying degrees of consciousness, asleep or awake.

it helps quite a bit in terms of astral projection, it calms physical and mental energies that put you in a much better state to acieve the deep trance state aquaired for exiting your body

I'm interested too, is there any way to test if there is a correlation between this?

You fall asleep easier but I don't think it has an effect on Lucid Dreaming because of the time it takes to reach the longer REM phases.
Maybe if you do it in he morning and stop before the .. uhm ...... point of no return and then go back to sleep. That could cause some very nice dreams lucid or not.
So far my extensive research had no LD-related results worth mentioning.

again I have to say this is quite an interesting topic. A few of us should experiment with this and come back with the results.

      It depends.

IF you are preoccupied with sexual thoughts, then its going to be a benefit: You're releasing that sexual tension.

However, it takes energy, and thus decreases your willpower. Etc.

I had no problem lucid dreaming and I've masturbated every night since I was 13.

Heh, that explains my dreams being so vivid, then. I don't get the whole ejaculation thingy, it lasts longer if you fight it.

God, I never thought I was this honest.

      It does relax most people.
The only effect that you may wish to consider is that if you are desiring to have a sexually oriented dream. This may relax those desires.
      It may not matter too!

As above, so below, as below, so above. The idea is that you have different bodies, and they are reflections of each other. When you ejaculate, something leaves you physically, but (sexual) energy also leaves your energy body.

I am postulating that the more energy you have in you, the more vivid dreams will be. It's like your dream body's battery is extra charged, and does not have to run in low power mode when you have a surplus of energy.

Well, I'm 15, and I've been masturbating most nights since I was about 12 or 13. I've never noticed or even thought about it effecting my dream experience. I do get to sleep easier when I masturbate, it's like a weight being taken off my shoulders.

      Possible experiment:

      1. Do not masturbate close to bed time for a week (3+ hours maybe?) Record your dreams and rate their vividness from 1-10.

      2. Now masturbate 1 hour away from bed time for a week, record your dreams and rate their vivdness from 1-10.

      3. Masturbate and then immediately fall asleep, record your dreams and rate their vivdness 1-10.

      4. Before sleep, begin masturbating, but do not finish; get close. Record your dreams and rate vividness 1-10.

If you can stand it, don't masturbate at all for a week and see what happens.

I won't tell since when I started masturbating.. but w/e
Lately it seems I just become more AWAKE after ejaculating. Maybe because i've been physically / mentally active and thus it removes the tiredness, I don't know. in the past it did use to make me tired.

I'm not sure how jerking off but not ejaculating would work, having sexual urges non-stop till you fall asleep seems more annoying for me, but who knows

However I would consider it a no-no if you become really tired after it, it would probably make you go into such a deep-sleep that it screws up your recall / lucidity, I don't know, just a guess.

      New Acronym Suggestions:
MILD - Masturbation Induced Lucid Dream
WILD - Wank Induced Lucid Dream

      ...

DAMMIT! They're already taken! Oh well, one thing's for certain... FILD will never be the same again.

      Heheheheh. Seriously, though...

Hey! This is actually a really good idea!!! Perhaps you should join the research team, and propose this as an experiment in the research forum? Cos, this would be VERY easy to test, and easy to get people involved in. Seriously, go post it, it's a fantastic idea!

I was going to give some tips, but that actually is pretty weird just contemplating what to type.

I will say this though, when I get closer to completely filling up with energy, whatever thoughts are going through my head seem to come alive and have some momentum. It feels like I am actually being consumed into the dream, and that feeling startles me. Then, the thoughts and dreamscape goes away.

I have had at least two full body orgasms where they actually sent me right into a dream state, where I was orgasming in the dream. Damn cool, especially since my body felt warm all over after the really short dreams ended. There have been plenty of other times where I have simply woke up and noticed a discontinuity. They happen without any warning except the dreamscapes swallowing me.

Damn. That sounds fun. Hrrrm. I don't get that. LOL. It takes me a while to fall asleep, whether or not I *ahem*, so, yah. And full-body orgasms... ehrm... can't say I get 'em.
