Its possible, its even possible to slow down your perception of time IRL to some extent : http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/inde...howtopic=40628 |

Hey, i did a post like this previously but its really getting on my nerves, right, we know that you can do almost anything in a lucid dream, surely slowing down the perception of time so it feels like you've been dreaming for a day is possible when you have been dreaming for just an hour, it just doesn't make sense that its not possible, i know you can't physically change your perception of time but surely you could get your imagination to do that for you within the dream? Has anyone actually tried lengthening their dreams by altering the perception of time within the dream, i think it would be awesome, if someone could tell me why this isn't possible please do because i'm confused about the whole thing, thanks |

do you think it is possible to simply wish the dream to last for a day it would work, you would experience an entire day, every second of it you are aware of it, like a full 24 hour dream of interactivity when really its only lasted an hour because you changed your perception of time. just wondering |

@kr3wskater, read the book again please. I assure you, LaBerge NEVER said anything like that. He said that our dreams seem long, but they arent. Its like in a film when theres one scene and then another when it says "5 years later". |

everytime I even begin lucid dreaming it's like everything including myself is going 90 mph jumping from one thing to the next. This causes loss of control and a constant shift between lucid and non. I can't even tell what I'm controlling and what I'm not sometimes and I have no time to think. This always leads to crappy lucids. There was only one time I remembered to make myself calm before continuing on. This slowed the dream and give me better control. |
Once I get good at lucid dreaming, I think I'll try something. I'll tell myself to erase all redundancy from the dream for the course of a month. Each night, I'll look at the moon. If it works, then I've set myself up for a single day of routine, and thirty more days of nothing but unique experience and a glance at the moon (which will change phases each day). I'm unsure how plausable this sounds, but that's because I've yet to become stable enough to try it. And I'd want it to be a WILD, guarunteeing that I begin this dream at the onset of REM (rather than most of my other lucids, which I only become lucid in the end or middle). |

I've done it but not by changing percetion. It's just a random occurence with me...I think. I'm gonig to conciously try it tonight if I'm lucid. And it's certainly possible, there are people who have almost lived out a whole lifetimes in one dream alone [some guy here on DV talked about it once, him living in there and not being able to get out nutil he either made himself do something like just float out of it or die] |

i just love the idea of living a lifetime in a single dream, it would be so awesome, you could add so much to your life this way, just imagine living an entire life in the dream and feeling sad when you die because your leaving your life behind, and then you suddenly awaken to your waking life almost shocked that your still alive because you got really hooked onto the dream you were having due to the realism, i'm definately going to try this out when i'm more experienced, imagine the sort of details you could produce from this, its just amazing i think |
Yeah, it would be a great thing to learn to control, but i'm curious, does spending a lifetime in a dream mean that you'll forget loads of stuff that you've remembered about real life? I know you can forget little things like the day or date but what about beigger things like upcoming events or things that you need to get done ofr school or work? I really hope not. |
well i suppose its possible you would forget things for sure but that would be your choice, i suppose if you decided to try it and live a long time in a night you would have to keep reminding yourself of aspects of your waking life, just regular check ups to make sure you don't wake up thinking you live on different planet lol, i'm going to play around with this when i become a regular lucid dreamer. |
I heard of someone spending ONE year. My view is that if you BELIEVE it is possible, then it may work. I'd love to do it. I'm hoping for a Lucid tonight actually, I just watched Waking Life. In my next Lucid, I'll attempt to slow time just a little, perhaps a day at most. And I'll try to avoid all overly exciting activity, to avoid pre-mature waking. |
Sound slike a good idea but I'm sure that once you get used to it you can go out doing whatever you want that's exciting and not have to worry about waking up. I know the night before my dream was 2 days long [barely] and last night's dream is lost... it'd really make all the time you spend dreaming all the more worth while since very second would go to good use in your dream world |
It makes me a little afraid that when I die I am going to wake up, in a strange bed, a room that I don't recognize, and then a mother figure that is also not familiar, will tell me to hurry because I am going to miss the bus. |
