Ok well I never did a WILD before or experienced sleep paralysis but I want to try this technique. However last night I felt kind of creeped out and maybe even afraid. I know the sensations that will come are normal but I didn't know what to expect so i felt kinda uncomfortable. I didnt go into sleep paralysis but I noticed that my right arm started to feel heavy and tingled here and there. I'd feel a bit jumpy inside after each slight feeling. However i know that this was probably just psychological because i still felt very much awake. I felt slight disorientation but not even to the point of almost drifting off. Finally i decided to forget about it and went on my left side and fell asleep. I still wanna try this so can someone help me on how to just relax since its not a bid deal? Oh and post your experiences in the WILD because im still clueless and mystified by the whole conscious all the way through thing and then "leaving your body" or whatever.

i'm probably not the best person to ask since i've never experienced it but have you tried focusing your mind on something else to take you mind of the creepyness, it could help, stay calm, let it run its course and lucid away, just stay calm and make sure to keep aware, good luck, hope this helps

Hey, i know what you mean about feeling a bit scared trying this. I've only did a WILD like once (and it never worked. lol), and it was kinda weird but not scary if you know it's all in your head. I dunno, but are you trying to WILD when you go straight to bed? Or are you doing the "wake back to bed" before you try to WILD? i dunno if you can WILD before getting any sleep but maybe somebodys done it.

Theres a few good ways to relax that you can prolly read about on this site. When i tried a WILD, it was after going to sleep and then waking up really early and then going back to bed but relaxing and focusing on my breathing. I focused hard on my breathing till i felt myself go numb, then vibrations sorta took over and i couldn't move. Then i screwed up and lost the vibrations but i think if you get to that point, all you have to do is concentrate on a dreamscape and you'll go into a dream still being conscious and then you're lucid

It's really nothing to be scared of though. SP can be pretty cool actually if you just relax while it's happening.

      I hope that helped

Well i do WILD without waking up from sleep. Does that work ? I read it did but i guess im not sure. Anyway, I first relax by progressive muscle relaxation. I then focused on something to keep my mind occupied by counting, however a part of me is still conscious of myself while im counting and i am usually conscious of breathing when im trying to fall asleep and because of that im conscious of my heartbeat which i noticed was speeding up slightly when i was nervous and that lead me to feel my body. I need help on being only "in my head".

I'm not sure either, lol, i just heard you had to sleep and then wake up before doing Wild.

That's the problem i always have, that's why i never could Wild without sleeping first. But if you go to sleep, say around 11pm, then sleep till about 4 or 5am, then get up and stay awake for about 10 minutes, go back to bed and concentrate on your breathing. Because you'll be so tired, you're not as nervous or excited like if you try it without getting sleep first.
Then hopefully you reach SP and that's when you get that "in your own head" feeling, i think...

Sing the song "Because I Got High" in your head.
Lyrics are good, its a long song, and its relaxing.

I think you pretty much answered it yourself, actually. You're just reluctant to try it because it's something new and you don't know how it'll be. I think the thing to do is just try not to make it such a big deal. You never really leave your body or anything like that- you're just aware during the transition from awake to dreaming. That's all it is. Once you try it it won't be such a big deal anymore, and you might well find it not scary at all, and you'll wonder why you even worried about it in the first place- a lot of new experiences tend to happen like that, for me anyway. And the very worst that can happen is that you'll find it kind of scary, and then you'll just fall asleep or wake up or whatever, and you'll look back and think, oh wow, I didn't like that too much. Just keep reminding yourself that that's the worst possible thing that will happen, and I'm sure everything will go fine.

Get over it? Lol, a little numbness and a racing heart?

If that scares you, you need to get out of your room and do something interesting..

SP isnt scary at all...realize.. it happens naturally.

And who cares dude? Common..how can you be scared of that.

Personal question: whats the most dangerous, daring, or risky thing you have ever done that could harm you?

What's up with the condescending tone? WILDs are scary as shit the first time around. Lots of things happen naturally that I'm afraid of, and when it's something you've never even experienced before, but heard about it, it's scary as shit.

I know how it must sound bad but come on, with that attitude your not going to get anywhere, march to bed, enter SP and conquer your fear of it, repeat it over and over again and eventually it will seem natural, if you persist at it you won't feel as scared, its natural to be scared of something new, instead of begin scared of it just face it and try your best to overcome it, i've not experienced SP yet so i could be a hippocrit to this post eventually but for now, just give it a go and try and overcome it, think calm and be calm Good Luck

SP IS scary as shit the first time around, no doubt. I'm not saying stay scared of it, I'm saying realize that it is scary and work from there. You're not going to be able to overcome your fear of it by not doing it, so you must do it obviously. But the first time you enter SP your heart will probably start racing, you'll start wanting to back out, normal fear reactions. I was just commenting that people are allowed to be scared of things and still get past them. These are all normal reactions. Frankly, if you didn't scared during SP and WILDing I'd be wondering what kind of human being you are.

well ive heard of ppl who went through sleep paralysis and they said it felt like they were suffocating or dying. I dont think it sounds that scary but im thinking it could feel different to some people. And im young and i get mild anxiety in daily life so i think i may be a little more sensitive to adrenaline then others. (Not adrenaline from physical activities)

Im sorry for having a attituid in my last post.

I get upset over fear; im the type on person that doesnt want to let anything rule over my life, and fear does that to people.

"Dont climb that mountain what if you fall!"

Me: "I would rather die at 25, but have experianced fun things, then live till im 80 and have dont nothing fun in my life"

(Lets face it, most everything fun and entertaining is dangerous, BESIDES LUCID DREAMING lol.)

Ill take the risk and not have as many regrets....i already have too many

-When i first tried to WILD i knew about SP, but all i knew is that it could be a little scary, and you get numb, maybe feel like you are getting sucked into your bed. I didnt even think about it when i tried WILD, (iv only tried it a few times, but i always get SP

-Anyway, if i herd that it could feel like you were dieing for suffocating? I would have tried it the second i heard about it.
Your not going to die, it happens everynight, so hell...a new experiance. Sounds fun.

      Thats just my perspective.

The weird thing is im scared shitless of roller coasters LOL...but i still go on them.

ok, totally opposite from my other post, i'm sorry, i didn't really take into account how scared you felt bout it, just tackle this when it feels right for you, do it in your own time, take your time, ironically i am a hippocrit from my previous post, don't do it suddenly, take it in steps, try SP again, see how you feel, just take it easy and don't rush things, i know i was saying to rush it before but ignore that post, it was stupid and thoughtless, don't worry about it, recall the memory of it and know that you are safe now and know what to expect in future, good luck

emmm, not to by um empathetic, but your heart starts racing yes..but no more then after running for 10minutes Lol.

I actually look forward to this when i WILD, im going to try it again tonight Lol.

I get overily excited, adn breath too fast and it kicks me out of SP sometimes :-/

-->The thing that scared me ---HS? Hypotnic sound, or w/e. When you hear voices.

I was laying there in bed (not trying to wild, trying to fall alseep) and i started hearing my friend talk.
Clear as day...he wasnt having a convo, he was just saying little random things that he says all the time about every 30seconds.

So when the voices turned demonic and started saying that im a POS, and i deserve to die.
      I got a little scared.
I listened to it for like 5minutes though, i wasnt like omg wtf the devil!
I knew it was only in my mind.
I was still pretty scared though.
I want it to happen again.

      :-D

Shyne if you've ever felt the heart chakra or whatever gets going in sleep paralysis feels like I think you'll take back those words about a heart beating not being so bad . It's not like "just feeling your heart beating".

When I first began WILDing I experienced this on my second induction of sleep paralysis. What I felt... was beyond anything I've ever felt in my life. It felt like electricity was jolting through me, and that my entire body was beating very rapidly and very hard, and with every "beat" there was a thundering boom along with it. It felt like I was going to explode into oblivion at any moment. It was not fun at all.

I also woke up feeling tingly all over my body for atleast 15 seconds after this happened.

I've never had it since, but I can tell you, it scared the living shit out of me when it happened. Though I was told that vibrations get less intense each time, and they do. I've never experienced anything that intense since then, but I have experienced things close to it (but I'm also "prepared" now for it).

All I can really say is, be happy you can experience sleep paralysis and use it as a launching pad for lucid dreams or out of body experiences. It used to be the most terryfying thing to me when I was younger, but now I'm so happy that I can easily induce it in the mornings (whenever I have the motivation to).

Well, i must say i have never had a experiance like that Blade, but i would Love to lol.

Im not saying it wouldnt scare the heck out of me, but it sounds pretty cool.

My SP is like..heart racing pretty fast, gasping for air, and a feeling of a brick on my chest.
I dont mean i want to feel like im going to die everytime...thats crazy, but i think it would be awsome to experance what you said at least once.

Nothing like what you described yours as (Which you did very well BTW) :-)

Anyway, everyones differnent, im sorry for coming off like a jerk. I guess not everyone is turned on my danger.
(Not in a sick way you freaks 8) )

Btw, iv been trying to Blue methood variation of WILD...i think im going to quit doing that after a few more tries and go back to getting up for a WILD...if i dont get up, even after sittting there for 15minutes as soon as i stop moving and start counting im out lol.
-I think im going to listen 2 my ipod tonight during the 15 minutes, see if that alerts my brain enough.

I have only experienced a "partial" Sleep Paralysis. Last night I felt it three times, and I loved it, I think the only thing you have to do is say, "I am going into SP and I am not going to be afraid of it, after, it happens when I'm asleep anyways." Hope that helps a little bit.

I'm not sure about what others experience. It's different for everyone. I can only speak from personal experience. The worst thing that happened to me during SP was monsters coming to get me. A couple of times I saw some things at the foot of my bed. Honestly though after I read about it and found out it's natural it's been a cool experience ever since. I never imagine those things anymore. Now it's just a feeling of tinglyness and joy because I know I fixin to have a lucid dream.Don't worry about all the scary stuff. You know that there is really nothing to be afraid of. You know that it's a natural thing your body does to keep you from harming yourself in dreams. If you know that then your mind will have a tough time playing those kind of tricks on you. Just remember that when you start to get that sensation again.
