My longest has been a month. In fact I'm kind of in a famine right now. All you can do is keep trying!

I feel kind of like an alcoholic that is staring into the window of a bar, but is unable to go inside and have a drink! Really sucks!

Just hang in there and know that at some time, almost everyone goes through this!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Good analogy. lol. Lucid dreaming and even having vivid dreams is so addictive. But at least it's free, and is a good addictiion, unless a person begins going to extremes and starts using artificial means like drugs to try to increase them.

Maybe the weather or moon signs have something to do with dry spells, because I've been in dry spell also until I finally had a short lucid dream yesterday.

I try to stay positive during dry spells by concentrating on the vivid dreams I'm enjoying and being happy to at least have them. But even they can get addictive.

Like last night, I kept having the same boring dream, 4 times in a row I woke up from the same boring dream. Finally...I got out of that dream and was able to have a couple of exciting dreams.

I haven't had a lucid in what feels like forever [20 days], but I know it's not like my typical dry spells [2 months], but dry spells can be long or short. The only issue is, you never know if it's a long one or a short one! The longest I've had was four months, no idea what could have been the cause of it. Man, lucid dreams really make you want more... and of course, you can always help kill the time during dry spells with nice, vivid dreams Don't get down over it though, it happens to everyone and it'll have to come to an end [hopefully soon].

I'm having my first dryspell too... I just figure it's because school is back or I'm doing something different... I think it's been around a month since my last LD... Hopefully we'll all be back on track soon! Maybe we'll even LUCID DREAM TONIGHT!

a dry spell is a period in which a lucid dreamer doesn't have any lucid dreams, a dry spell ends when a person has a lucid dream again

Dry spells tend to vary from person to person, some can last a week, which is hardly a dry spell to be honest, and some can last months if not years. How ever if you keep trying the percentage of getting a lucid will increase. Just keep telling yourself you will have a lucid and you will break the dry spell.

If you're really desperate to end the dry spell, I suggest learning to WILD. It may take weeks to perfect... But I'm sure it'll prematurely end dry spells in the future!

Also, I believe that dry spells are caused by mental blocks. Somehow, you are telling yourself you will not lucid dream. Therefore, the easiest way to end a dry spell is to truly believe you'll lucidly dream. That's my opinion. I'm sure it'll help somehow.

      Good luck!

i've gone 2+ months before... maybe 2.5. no worries on the length, it happens.

i recently broke a dry spell, and as i analyzed what i did differently that week, i found i was getting SLIGHTLY more sleep than usual. not a lot, but a little. it sounds so simple, but think about all the reports stating how americans REALLY deprive themselves of sleep (fast paced world, time is money, etc.).

if you a.) set aside enough time for sleep (different for different people), b.) believe that you will have that LD, and c.) don't put too much pressure on yourself (have fun!) you'll be out of the slump in no time.

      good luck!

I have never had one. I would need to try to not get lucid.

      Lucky you...
I had a really great begining with lucid dreaming having 7 LDs in less than a month and now it seems I just can't get lucid! Almost did it tonight, though! Seems that like good periods, bad periods don't last forever!

Cool bro. I wasn't aware anyone asked you. Thanks for contributing to the post as well!

      Seeker-

Try setting an alarm multiple times through the night-

Find what works best for you, set the first one for about 4-6 hours after falling asleep, and then another few hours after that and So on depending on how long you sleep.

Each time you awake, do your best to recall your dream you just came out of.

This will help dream recall, and that leads to many others things: Dream signs, reality checks, etc.

Also it gives you more chances to be conscious and try your best to fall asleep back into a dream and become Lucid.

Good luck! Everyones "dry spells" are different.

even though i've only been into LDs for 3 months two weeks seemed like alot...after my eighth i have not had one in almost a week, im always scared after like 3 days ill have a dryspell....and sometimes im scared that worrying about dryspells might actually induce one rather than stop one...IDK maybe dryspells are all in the mind.....

They definetelly are. I didn't LD for a long time and yesterday I decided that there was no such thing as a dryspell it was all in my mind. And that I was going to have a LD BECAUSE! I mean, I thought like "I wanna have LD so, sure... I'm gonna have one, why not? Nothing's keeping me from having one!"

Kinda worked cause tonight I had a crappy LD but I didn't even have one of those in this period. Tonight I'll have a better one, I'm sure. Cause nothing will keep that from happening...

I really would, but I have to get up quite early, and I have too much to do to go to bed early. I can't afford to waste that extra half hour or so in the early morning...
although I'm very tempted. Maybe after the exams are over

darn these exams, i always seem to pick a bad time to start learning something, i start and then i realise i have exams which puts my recall and lucid dreams underpressure and its all slowly fading as the months pass, to be honest with you it won't be over until august because thats when i get my results, the anxiety will be killing me from after my exams and up to august. This is gonna be one lengthy dryspell

Oh yeah, exams have cramped down on my lucid dreams and dream recall too! Well, at least now that orals and dissection are out of the way, only the written exams are left so after that, I'm good.

But as for you lucid Seeker, I've been there on waiting for results. My only advice is to busy yourself enough so that it's not your top worry/priority [it's only natural to fret over those things]. I don't know how easy that is for you but if that doesn't sound like enough advice, try to take some melatonin for a week and go off of it during the next and see if that helps [I'm assuming that that's what mainly got me off of my dry spell].

PS- Good luck with the exams~

Thanks alot Well i say i'll be anxious about my results because i want to get into college and that would be the worry, when it comes to it i may appreciate the free time so much that i forget my worries, well things should go smoothly. A bit of meditation each night should keep me de-stressed. Thanks

Anytime. I'm sure that when I'm in your shoes I'll be just as nervous over getting my results back. Meditation does help a good bit. And tea does too, it'll naturally relax your body. But of course, not everyone is a fan of tea.

Well i don't really drink normal tea that everyone has, i'm a fan of green tea, it feels really fresh and energises me in a way, i love meditating though, i've not been doing it for long buti find that when i open my eyes after meditating i feel asthough i am opening them wider and i have a better understanding of myself, both symbolic and literal, its very strange since i'm new to this stuff, well all i can say is that when you are in my position make sure you have revised before hand, i myself have left it to last minute, but i'll get through it, i always find a way lol. I also like inscent sticks, i get them from chinatown in manchester here in the UK, very nice, give off a good feel especially when meditating!

Oooh, I could kiss you for that one! Green tea's the best and it has the most anti-oxidants in it compared to the other scopes of tea so drink on!

And I understand what you mean about meditation aiding in the understanding of oneself. It really just makes everything comparable and feel nice. My only issue with it is to calm down my mind long enough for me to actually being mediation [once I start it's fine], I blame my active mind and paranoia...

Incense helps? I've never actually tried using it before, especially while meditating, most scents are just too strong, but if it does help with meditating and meditating helps people relax then it's worth a try ^^
