1st attempt at a WBTB LD

Hello, I decided to attempt an LD this morning using the WBTB technique. It was a little disappointing and so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or personal experience with the matter. Anyways, this was my trial:

First off, I ended up going to bed around 2:AM and set my alarm for 8:AM. Upon waking up I wrote what I could remember from my dreams in my DJ then came over to the computer and read some articles on LDing and looked over the tutorial for WBTB again as well as some other tutorials. I went back to bed after about an hour and a half but had difficulty falling back asleep. I ended up laying there for at least 15 or 20 min and found it very hard to concentrate on LDing and remembering my dream upon waking up. After I finally fell back into sleep and got up 2 1/2 hours later I hardly remembered anything except feelings of frustration and tid bits of a dream. Could it of been too late in the morning? Or might it of helped if I had set another alarm in the morning to wake me up after the completion of the sleep cycle?

Thanks for any input, it's much appreciated :-)

Well I'm no expert, but I'd say the going to bed at 2am thing probably didn't set you up very well for a LD... I've actually been experiencing a similar thing over the last few days, ending up going to bed ridiculously late and getting up when it's nearly evening.. and I've had very little recall over this period.. and I too have been trying WBTB

I think people often talk about having regular sleeping patterns being necessary for dreaming much, and I personally am now endeavouring to be asleep between 11 and midnight each night (rather than the 5am of last night ) and get between 7 and 9 hours each night.. hopefully it'll help, maybe you should try something similar?

      End the dry spell!

Yeah I was thinking of doing something very similar to that as well. Thanks a lot. Have fun dreaming, g/l obtaining lucidity. :-)

Yes. Keeping a consistent sleep schedule is a secret to success. My lucids are best when I have a good schedule. Since I dropped the schedule (due to real life stuff), my lucids have gone down in quantity and quality.

Also, 8:00? Unless you live on the western side of a mountain, or in the Arctic circle, wouldn't it be light out? I can't stand sleeping when there's light in the room. If it bugs you as much as it bugs me, try a sleep mask.
