Question Do you make plans for your lucid

I ask this because before when i didn't make plans for when i became lucid i used to really enjoy my lucids, but now i make plans i stress over them because i am hoping i remember my goal, then i am changing it back and for etc. The last few lucids i have had have been very ordinary, i don't recall my goal and i ain't doing things that i would want to. (probably not fully lucid) I think the stress is also playing a big part in this.

I was wondering if anyone doesn't make plans for their lucids, they just become lucid and take it from there.

I don't plan them unless saying "i'm gonna fly" is a plan

I will just ride along with the lucid

I think if you plan it, then you'll get stressed. Dreaming isn't supposed to make you stressed.

well i make several plans, but a lot of the times i'm lucid i dont even remember them, or i think my goal is something else-which isnt my real goal. i think goals are good, because a lot of the ones where i dont remember and attempt my goal, i dont do exciting stuff

Thats true. I am gonna make goals but i am not going to stress over them, if i recall them i do, and if i don't i don't.

Yes goals are good as long as you don't stress over them.

I've heard that if you don't set an intention before you enter your LD you might end up either wasting the dream figuring out what you want to do, or you'll have a greater risk of ending up in a non-lucid dream.

In a LD seminar video (posted somewhere on the forum I think) the guy said that he had an intention which he pursued in his lucid dream, which was to visit his friend. But as he was on his way to his friend he accidentally cruised into a non-lucid state. But because he had set an intention, he eventually remembered "Oh right, I was supposed to visit my friend" and so he became lucid again.

I myself have only had a couple of DILDs lasting about 10-20 sec, but I think it seems to make sense that having some sort of intention/goal for your LDs should be useful?

I think it's always good to go into a lucid dream with some sort of plan of action.

Go in and have some fun. You can attempt bigger, deeper things when you have a better handle of dream control and dream vividness.

      *edit*

And yes, I do plan. I like accomplishing the monthly lucid tasks.

I usually plan also. Though, its usually the same stuff I plan whenever I want to become lucid, so if I'm lucid and I didn't plan them before I already know what I want to do.

Don't get me wrong, I have a plan, but I don't plan it to the extreme, ie. "I'm in a desert and playing chess om a river with Pierce Brosnan."

I'd plan it such as, "I'm in a desert and I'd summon a celebrity"

When I plan, I don't sleep. But I still try to plan, hence my loss of sleep.

Yeh i find that as well. i find normally my first thoughts after becoming lucid are to find a form of transport, (flying or a vehicle) and one or two other things, because i have got into the habit of doing these things when lucid it becomes a habit.

I have a list of things that I want to do, but there is usually something cool in the immediate dream that I want to play with so I tend to get sidetracked.

If I make plans I tend to not even remember my dreams! I find it much easier and more effective to go with the flow of things.

Well, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish in your lucid dreams. If you are trying to complete lucid goals or monthly tasks, then plan your lucid dreams. However, I remember Stephen LaBerge illustrating a study in EWLD that involved transcendental dreaming. Those who sought divine experiences were generally less likely to have them than those who just "let go" and allowed the experience to find them. Of course, whether these experiences were actually dinvine would be up for interpretation by the dreamer. I personally don't plan my lucid dreams, but I might start doing so for a change of pace.

I plan my dreams. Perhaps it has something to do with my nature. Perhaps I want to see how lucid I really was. Whatever the case, it helps me improve, and adds clarity and purpose to my lucid dreams.

I don't stress about it if I don't follow the plan. Lucids like that can be fun, but much less interesting to an audience. That's why I only post lucids that follow my "plot," and not fun-random flying excursions.

I've actually recently resolved to try and set intentions each night before I sleep, to try and keep some scenario in mind that I am going to accomplish if I become lucid.

I can think of two or three different times when this has happened, although admittedly the actual lucid dreams usually came two or three days (sometimes a week) after setting that intention, and maybe once did I fall asleep with an intention and fulfill it that same night in a lucid.

Unfortunately this past year hasn't really been productive as far as attaining lucidity in sleep, so hopefully 2008 will give me plenty of opportunities to experiment in lucid dreams.

I go back and forth between planning and not planning for my LDs. If I haven't been thinking about LDing through the day it can increase the number of LDs I have. However, if I have thought a lot about LDing during the day, I don't need to do it as a "lucid aid," but I still might do it if I have a specific goal in mind. I keep my plans/goals pretty general, so I will be able to do them no matter what dream I find myself in.

When I don't plan my LDs I end up having more random dreams. Sometimes I end up having amazing experiences, but often I end up having almost pointless LDs.

I do agree that it is best to not stress over LD plans. One of the main points of LDing for me is to deal with and minimize stress.

I usually have some long term goals because if I become lucid and don't know what to do, it just fades and I wake up but often I just have these spur of the moment crazy impulses, like flying a bookstore
