Post My theory on Bettering yourself through lucidity

      Hey there,

I've been looking through the forums the past few days and I have seen a few posts in reguards to "Can you get good at things by practising in a lucid dream?" and I thought id post my opinions to see what people believe, To demonstrate I will Give an example, I hope this is understandable...

Ok..We all know that when we watch a movie enough times or listen to music enough, after a while you memorize it ,well what about if you see a person doing gymnastics or someone dancing?

If you watch it enough you'll remember it and if your laying awake at night you can probly see it in your mind pretty well..But what if you then tryd to imitate the same dance step you just saw?..Chances are that it won't be perfect..so why is this I thought as I lay awake one night. And here is what i concluded..

I believe that during the day whatever we see is stored in our sub-concious and when we witness something such as a dance move the same thing happens we can remember it,Take Michael Jackson for example say he does the moonwalk most of you have probly seen him preform it,and as you read this you can probly see a mental image of Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk..This is what i found interesting..if you can see it in your mind that means your sub-concious knows about it..the reason you may not be able to do it is because you brain and body are unable to easily decode what it sees to co-ordinate your body enough to do the move successfully,But what if this were to happen...

You have a Lucid Dream and you are alone on stage with michael jackson, now possibly un-beknowen to you is that your sub-concious knows how the moonwalk is preformed,it learnt it while you watched it on t.v. only you didnt know.

now in Lucid Dreaming your sub-concoius can take images or patterns or information you have stored to use in the dream so needless to say if michael jackson were to preform the moonwalk for you in a lucid Dream then he will preform it as it was when you saw it on t.v. in your waking life.

you sub-concious knows every little bit of footwork ect involved in this so theoretically if you kindly ask michael in you lucid Dream to show you step by step how the moonwalk is done, and because you already know in sub-concious then your dream should be able to take the infomation from your sub-concious to allow michael to show you slowly..

but when you master this in your dream then would'nt you sub-concious store this in memory as it knowing what body co-ordination is used an therefore be able to access it from you memory in the waking world?

it's up to you to decide but that's my theory,i hav'nt put it into practise yet as i havnt got passed SP. But let me know what you think, it does'nt have to be for just dancing but also for sports, speeches, yoga, golf whatever your into,

once again this is not solid infomation mearly a possibility.
Hope it wasn't to hard to understand.

      take care and happy LD.

Well, what you write makes sense. But I believe that you need to learn in real life to make sure you do it right, otherwise it's just guessing.

I can use my lucid dreams to practice Taekwondo. I don't know how much difference it makes, but it's fun when I remember my forms in my dreams.

That theory sounds pretty decent to me.

I think lucids could be a good way of transferring skills from your sub-conciousness to your conciousness.

Good concepts here, and good analogies. It should work if the memory is fresh enough (or repetitive).

If you skim through every page in a book, just overlook the pages real fast and you have a lucid dream about the book, will your sub-conscious know exactly what it said in the book, allowing you to read the book in the dream?

      Hey

Hey guys thanks for you views, in response to the question, i don't know if you could skim read a book and see it perfect in a dream,Interesting but i'm not sure,i guess trying it is the best ,let me know anyway.

p.s. from what i've read text in dreams may not always be possible, as quite often words will keep changing ect,,but hey anything is possible.

My lucid dream skills aren't such that I can practice real life activities in my dreams, but I can attest to the fact that visualization can produce tremendous results when learning a new activity.

I play guitar, and when I am learning a new song I will memorize the fretboard positions for especially difficult parts, and visualize myself playing it exactly in my mind - first slowly and then building up to the speed that I want to really be able to play it at.

Just recently I memorized a guitar part in the morning, played it slowly one to two times, then went to work; during lulls in the day I would visualize the guitar part including notes, finger positions, and picking. I did this quite frequently that day and really focused on imagining I was actually playing the part.

When I got home that night I grabbed the guitar and played the part almost perfectly, at a speed that I would have thought impossible to pick up so fast.

That being said, I am sure it helps to have some experience in real life with an activity before practicing in a lucid but I don't think it is really necessary. In your example, with learning to moonwalk, we all would at least be beginning with the knowledge of how to move our feet and at least imagine what commands we would send to our feet and legs to emulate the moonwalk.

That's true, but if the dream is 100% lucid? You're in control of everything, would that still affect reading text? It would be pretty awesome if it would work though. You can study while lucid dreaming.

I had a dream a few weeks ago where the only thing I could see was a letter, and I could read it like in real life. And a few nights later I was watching the news on an american TV channel (I'm not from the US...) and the reporter was saying really serious stuff, not cryptic bullsh*t like in most dreams. It was SO realistic. It even had the scrolling text in the bottom half of the screen (stocks).

Also weird is that the only thing I could see was the screen, there were no people in it, not even myself. It was more like a vision.
      Current projects:
      -Acquire the Aurora
      -Test galatamine, huperzine and choline
-Find smartwatch app for RC reminders at certain intervals
-Ressurect my dream log here, and become more active

      Its realy intersting

and i think that there is a way of learning in a dream
but not all things , i think that dancing you cant because you need to move your body, but you can improve your skills in somthing else like math
      what do you think?

You have a point! I read you can practise presentations in front of people (for example) in lucid dreams.

I would agree with Captain Sleepalot. You probably need to know exactly how to do it in real life, and then you will be able to practice it in a dream and get results. To use the guitar example, I would have to already know how to play guitar, have the callouses on my fingers, know how hard to press the strings, have my fingers trained to be able to lift pinky and ring finger independently, ect. It takes real world practice to have the muscle strength and control to do many activities.

I can watch a gymnast do his thing on a pommelhorse. I can then dream myself pommel horsing. I can pommel every night for a week. I still can't lift my fat ass with my skinny arms in real life. Then say I weightlift every day for a year while awake, practice pommeling every day while asleep. The first time I get on a pommelhorse in real life, will I be any good? I still doubt it. I think I would still need a few gymnastics classes.

I think practice in lucid dreams is viable, but learning new things is not. And you will always be limited by the physical world and your physical body's strength and flexibility. Even if your dreams are very vivid, you can only imagine things accurately if you have experienced them directly.
