yeah, of course! I would love to have a natural talent in attaining lucidity. I'm just not sure about the average. how often would you get an LD?

I would not, mostly because if I was, I wouldn't appreciate it nearly as much. Sure it takes lots of effort and sacrafice to learn to do it well, but being a natural would take the fun out of it!

No, self betterment should always be a goal and if I was a natural I'd have to find something else to get better at. Also, some of my regular dreams are really cool, if I went lucid every time I wouldn't have those. My two or three a week are good enough for me

      Not true.

I may have been lucid dreaming for a long time, but it was not until coming here to Dream Views a couple of years ago that I actually realized how much control I could have, or slowed down my exploration enough to learn the ins-and-outs of lucid dreaming. Before I came here, I could combat nightmares by summoning things, and learning to fly and waking myself up - and all that good stuff - but it wasn't until I came here that I learned to do all the things I can do now, like teleportation, scene changes, transformation, lengthening my time in the dream state, etc. Not to mention the many tasks of the month that we get to try, that I've never done before.

Point is that, many of us "naturals" may have been able to do it for a long time, but there is still so much we haven't experienced so, in a way, we are still in the learning process too.

Yeah, if I was a natural lucid dreamer I probably would rarely frequent DV (I'm here right now in hopes of incubating a lucid dream tonight) and it's here that I've learned and re taught the depths of the human psyche, and that's fascinating.

Oneironaut, see your point... I stand corrected.

Though, I must say that even though it can be frustrating learning, I do enjoy it allot.

I'm a natural, but you can never be a perfect LDer obviously. Always lots to learn.

Part of the reason that I come here is to incubate my own lucid dreams. Having lucid dreaming on my mind before bed makes me have one. If I was an expert I wouldn't come here as much. I belong to a martial arts forum, but I'd consider myself an expert at that so I go maybe once a week to answer questions that no one else knew the answer too.

I know that there are many many people here that will come up with the same answer that I would give to any particular question. If there was no personal reason I wouldn't come very often. I do love it here though, so I'm glad I'm not a natural

I wish not to be a natural lder, and I'm not. I like to learn from my mistakes that I did on a certain technique and try and solve/improve it. It's guess and solve.

Ah, Ok. I guess that's a personal enough reason. Only reason I ask is because, even though I may be a "natural," I still love coming here, so I just wanted to know why you wouldn't.

Although, I would figure there are many more personal variables to dreaming than there are to the perfection of martial arts. For that reason, I would say that, even as an expert, you would have better chance of seeing something new, or hearing about an experience that you've never had before, here, than on the martial arts forum. All the more reason to stick around here.

Usually people who earn the ability to lucid dream early are very young and don't have much on their plates. Usually I believe they pay more of their attention towards dream recall each morning for the kicks, or just to amuse their family telling them their funny dreams each morning. I won't tread unknown territory, so let me leave it at that.

Let me say that there is never 'nothing' to do when lucid dreaming. Just to name a few fun things.
-Go along with the dream to see what the out come is. Live it like a choice rpg. XD
-Ask DC different questions for funny responses.
-Any dream activity you can think of.
      -Create a dream city/landscape.
-Revisit old dreamscapes from when you were young. (I love this one, yet to do it)
-Learn special skills, like the elements.
-Assign yourself a special role/title, like US soldier or what have you and live it out.

So many different things, l couldn't list them all. Do I wish I had the natural ability? Yeh sure, why not?

learning to LD is 50% of the fun and the thrill of getting ur first or whatever number afterwards. Not just the dream but with out the dream we wouldn't bother so in a way u dont get the thrill as a natural as u do when u learn it. etc...

It is fun to learn, but being a natural would mean I could have more!

I am a natural, and I kind of wish I wasn't because maybe then I would be more disciplined in trying to intentionally induce lucids. Natural abilities are uncontrollable and fall off drastically with changed sleeping habits among other things.

The ability to happily respond to any adversity is the divine.

I can't believe natural LDers think they'd like not being a natural... I guess the sentence "you don't realize what you have, until you lose it" must be quite true in this case...

You get out of it what you put in, whether you're a natural or not. You people saying you would rather not be a natural seem to think that being natural means taking it for granted.
To me it's like saying that if you pay for college one hundred percent yourself, as apposed to someone who's parents pay or got a scholarship, you'd somehow appreciate it more. I'd agree it's more likely, but it's just a matter of how important or meaningful it is to you. Why wouldn't you want a leg up?

Given my horrendous success rate over the years, I'd take being a natural, even if it did lead to me taking it for granted.

I agree with this sentiment entirely. I wouldn't call myself a natural LD, but I consider myself a natural dreamer.

For as long as I cam remember, by dreams have been vivid, recall is nearly 100%, and numerous in a single night. 3-4 dreams that continue the same path. Then once that story is done another 2 or so that are abstract. During those, in the past, LD would happen randomly, and now that I've been hanging around DV I've noticed more and more DILD's.

It's kind of a pain. Sometimes I am dreaming so much at night I don't feel like I ever really rested. It feels like living two different lives on two completely different time lines. I've even got to the point where I will try to avoid my dreams by getting intoxicated to the point of blackout maybe 2-3 times a month. I just need a break.

Now that may sound bleak, but do know that I absolutely love my dreams at times as they give me inspiration in my daily life.

I suppose what I am trying to say is that we are all unique creatures so labeling things as "natural" or not doesn't really feel proper. To me, we are all natural dreamers existing in different degree's of dream-evolution.
"“Evil? Good? These are merely words. In the eyes of the universe neither of those exist. There are only three elements, that act as a base for all that you see around. There is Light. There is Dark. And there is the balance between those two. Good and Evil are concepts, used to deny oneself from serving the balance. By serving, you participate in the great creation."

      Ditto, that's awesome man!

I have two sides to my answer,

Yes and No. (who woulda guessed, ey?)

I'd LOVE to be a natural, just so I could experience LDs every night.

I'd also hate to be a natural, the excitement wouldn't be as great, and I think learning to LD is very rewarding
