Flying and finding that place in your mind...

I am hoping to find other people with similar experiences to see if we all feel the same when it comes to certain things.

For example, when I fly in my dreams I feel like I am able to do it by finding a place in my mind that connects me to be able
to fly. Does that make sense? I feel like I connect a place in my mind and then I become buoyant. I do put my arms out near my side because if your like me I feel as though the balance is somewhere near my waist and I could fall to the right or left if I don't keep my balance. It does take some brain thought as well to keep me balanced.

When you fly do you feel anything like this? Do you have to find that place in your mind? Do you have a place of balance that feels like its near your waist?
      thanks

Hmmm, for me its just thinking of what would make me fly, making up scenarios as too why flying would possible. Passive control.

And for anyone good with grammar, did I use the right to/too? I never get those right.

      It's "to".

I never think about how I'm going to fly. I try to do it sporadically. It works most of the time.

11PB11, when I fly, I just take off and fly.. I never have a planned place in my mind (well I did once.. but I was on the back of a bird so that doesn't count). I also never think about my body when I fly.. I just go.

When I fly, (I'm 1/1) I just thought about relaxing my body and mind... After relaxing, I though about hovering... I think it's easier to fly if you think about hovering instead...

I'm sure this works for you, cuz you feel this is what it takes to fly. If you had another way of flying and you would feel the same way about it, I'm sure that would work for you.

I'm new here, but I know it's all in your mind. So, whatever you think works, works...

No, my flight is not so controlled, it's dependant on mental focus and clarity rather than physical aspects like balance. I have trouble navigating and I have to focus alot to get going forward. If I loose focus, I'll end up flying randomly ie. left, right,up,down so I don't go anywhere with flying...

That is an interesting way of controlling your flight in-dream; like others I usually just think about it (or intend it) and I just float away.

Of course, it helps if there is a dream character around for me to show off for!

My flying is based on steady breathing. We are all familiar with the deep steady breathing that accompanies sleep. When I choose to fly I will pause and wait to complete my inhalation and push off as I exhale. If I feel unstable at all while in flight I can refocus on the cycling of my respiration and again use that steady exhalation to sharpen my control.

I do know what you mean, though. To accomplish things while dreaming I will make a sort of mental connection sometimes. It feels like tapping in somewhat.

      flying

The reason I asked this was because, I until proven differently believe that in dreams just as in life we human use basically all the same brains signals to operate(walk, talk, etc.) so why should dreams be any different? is the question I ask....

      Cometlike:
thats is exactly what im talking about. You tap into something, you connect and then you can. Good call

Sometimes in less lucid dreams I just say "ok fly" in my mind then I do, but I have less controll. Sometimes... and its kinda scary I just shoot straight up and have no control how high I get, lol, scary kinda. Has that happened to anyone?

I stumbled upon this lucid dreaming thing when I was 10 and have been doin it every since. The last 7 years I hardly do it anymore though.

I have felt like I have since the first realization that i was in a dream, that you slowly go through different levels, i.e.,

This has been my take of experience:
-realize its a dream, wake several times
-realize, then enjoy it for a short time because its a lot for you mind to comprehend and wake up without control
-realize, do something where you get in trouble can't wake up and get worried!
-learned to wake my self up in a dream by shaking my body so much that
it hits my real body and wakes me up.
      -Learned to fly soon after
-Learned to move objects using my dream mind
      on and on....

thanks a lot for all your input! Keep it coming...
