Your body DOES know when to keep breathing. However, when the sensations of nearing SP start, you could just become breathless from the excitement of it all Each attempt you try at a WILD, you'll get better and better at staying calm during this period and you won't have this problem anymore.

I didn't have the breathing problem when I first started, but I did get really hard rapid heartbeats which, I'm assuming, was caused by the same reason.

Also, I would suggest not paying so much attention to your breathing, swallowing etc. Just try to relax
hmmm... that really makes a lot of sense. Now that I think about it... I could be holding my breath from the unnatural sensations... thank you...

adraw, were you addressing the question to me? If it was to me, I didn't even think about breathing. What happened was that I seemed to run out of air and took a short explosive breath in without consciously controlling it. That action would drive away all the other sensations
