      Changed my life

      Hey everyone =]
I just thought I'd say how i feel about lucid dreaming etc and see if anybody feels the same way ^.^

Since I started with lucid dreaming, I became to realise much more about myself and how my brain ticks.

I began to feel much more in-tune with myself and my body.

I became more knowledgeable about how important sleep is.

It changed the speed at which I was able to learn a new skill.

I can visualise any object/situation with my eyes open- I never used to be able to just go instantly into a dream world whilst awake, not I can immediately visualise something right infront of my eyes.

I have become more patient when trying something new that is complicated.

I have become more confident with most things.

I have understood mine and other peoples' emotions better.

I can pick up methods on how to do something and develop things much easier.

I can safely say that Lucid Dreaming has changed my lifestyle completely by how it has changed my perspective on everything.

      What about everyone else?

Great post! Lucid dreaming has done a lot (and is still doing a lot) for me, too.

      My list would be:

      - Decreasing nightmares
      - Finding the sources of my anxiety problems
      - Relieving frustration and anger, making me a more calm person in my waking life
      - Never ending creativity inspiration
      - Helping me understand myself
      - Entertainment!
      - Helping me improve my martial arts skills
      - Has provided me with an anxiety free zone/environment where I have felt completely safe after days full of anxiety
      - Helped me get over my fear of performing in front of an audience

There is probably more, but this is what I could think of for the moment.

Awesome, Jimmehboi! I'm another one who feels LDing has changed my life for the better. I've always LDed, since I was a child, but since finding out it is something special and potentially powerful, I think I've finally tapped into the real potential of LDs. Many of the things on your list also apply to me. Here are some additonals:
      • better overall emotional state
      • I take less mental health medications
      • less mental health problems
      • I feel more confidant of my abilities
      • increased writing skills
      • I get no-cost vacations
      • better understanding of my true desires and drives
      • I'm better at talking to people I don't know
      • less anxiety

      That's great
I love the fact that I know lucid dreaming will carry on doing a lot for me and I know it will help me out for things that are yet to come in life that I don't know about.

Lucid Dreaming is just so versatile, dreaming is one of the smaller aspects of your life that it affects, there's so much else it can help you with/help you deal with, like you said, anxiety and fears.

I have had very little phobias/fears in my life, but since I was much younger I've always been terrified of water that I can't see to the bottom of and almost every large-ish spider.
Since I've started lucid dreaming, I'm no longer afraid of dark water at all, and I'm not afraid of any spiders except huge HOUSE spiders, those freak me, just the big ones, not the littler ones...

      EW.

But yea, maybe with some time I might not have a single phobia.

Ahhhhh why did you have to post a giant picture of a spider that creeped me out.

It could be very, err... Visually distracting and disturbing for anyone with arachnophobia..

Hey, you have my attention , you mean you can see it overlayed on your waking vision or in your imagination whilst your eyes are open?

      Thanks

Indeeeed I mean both, sort of like a mixture of the two, more so of the "overlayed on your waking vision" idea.
That used to amaze me when I was very young, and I could only do it when I wasn't paying attention (day dreaming) and if I tried to do it deliberately I wouldn't be able to.

Since I've been lucid dreaming, whenever I want to I can just fabricate an object infront of my vision that looks completely real (I often do this when I'm bored waiting around: in a queue or bus etc) I'll just have a blank sphere floating infront of my face and I can visualise my hands lifting up and touching it and moving it around etc.

I can also change my entire scene and after several seconds I wont be able to see anything from my real waking vision, just that of the image I have created inside my head.

One I loved to do is a kind of astral projection, (after about a minute of visualisation it begins to feel very much like a WILD) and in my tech exam just a few weeks ago, I finished with about 15 mins to spare. I did this sort of projection where I stepped up out my seat and walked a few spaces up the isiles of desks, I turned around and could see myself sitting there just with a blank face, I proceeded to look around other people's desks and I browsed at several people's papers just reading the answers to see if my brain would be able to fill any in

I find it VERY much like day dreaming, I suppose that's all it is, but what I'm trying to get at is that I've never been able to instantly do it and stay in this sort of dream world without snapping back to reality.

      Cheers =]
      Jim.

wow. thats kinda cool... actually thats really cool... haha im surprised that u cant use that skill to successfully WILD everytime... you should try doing that after doing the 61 point relaxation technique and after SP sets in...(if it usually does for you, i dont know). i mean if visual visualizations (rather than audio, or tacticle) are really the tick for your mind to WILD, then that should work.. i think. haha

Lucid dreaming has made me a little more right-brained. Also, I find I can tune in on the finest details in my environment.

Being able to vividly visualize things while awake is also something that LDing has helped me be able to do, like Jimmehboi. But mine aren't so solid -- I still see the things around me. The visualization is seen by my internal eye, so to speak.

Wow really interesting, so is there any particular methods you use when visualizing? do you look into a specific part of your mind for instance (I kinda focus on the back of my mind/head, if that makes sense). Do you physically stare at the same spot to get the best results? Also is there any methods you use to sustain the visualisation? Im very intrigued about this bit:

That has to take some major concentration and control, no? Id love to know what type of mindframe you're in when you achieve this, like "in the zone" ease or are you kinda trying hard and forcing yourself to visualize etc? I dont wanna hijack your thread but as you can tell im really interested in this, feel free to PM me if you think we're getting too off topic heh.

      Thanks

Id also love to hear your opinions seeker, if you wouldnt mind pm'ing me

No methods at all really when I think about it... Except I just ignore every bit of visual imput and concentrate on the "ball" (for example) that is in my vision.
For a visualisation which is filled with many details it takes me a few seconds more to fill everything in.

I stare at the same spot when I want to have a relaxed/deep thinking visual, for example, if I'm sitting down and I want to imagine something then there is no point in putting effort into moving my eyes around
Although if I'm walking down the street I can move my eyes around and keep the visualisation there (I never used to be able to do this).
I use a method which I learnt by accident, rather then focusing on EITHER reality and visualisation, keep the visualisation infront of you and concentrate on it, then as you move your eyes around, imagine that the background is moving BEHIND the object you're visualising... This way you don't loose concentration.

And the only real method to sustain the visualisation is just to keep your concentration on what you see (if you are too determined then your mind will constantly keep flitting back to reality), I just relax and concentrate on what I can visualise, rather than ignoring my surroundings.

Normally both, as I said before, I just relax, so pretty much, I'm ignoring everything in my surroundings (I say ignoring- I just don't think of it at all)
But at the same time, to remain in the relaxed "in the zone" state, I have to put a lot of concentration into visualising everything.

Well it all depends on detail, if I imagine myself in a giant room filled with hundreds of different letters, I would probably have to work some major overtime on visualisation
Where as if I imagine myself a completely blank, white, square room then it will take very little concentration at all in a very relaxed state.

I've used this sort of visualisation for remembering things with ease, (too bad I hardly ever remember to use it hahaha)
but yeh, if I have to remember something which is physical (lets say, to remember to buy eggs), I'll just visualise a blank white room with a box of eggs on the floor.
Or if it's something like a word (lets say, "exaggeration") then I can either visualise the word written there (although it sounds easier... I hardly ever remember words ) or I can fabricate the word "exaggeration" into a physical form, like, as a blade of grass.
Do NOT ask me how I found out that that method works better LOL

But yeah... No problem for the thread hi jack
Hope this helps you a bit, I need to go now, but if you like then when I have some time I could PM with more detail on how I do this stuff

      Cheers =]

Hi Jim! It's great to see DV and lucid dreaming having such a positive effect on so many people.

For me, lucid dreaming has given me clarity and focus in life. I feel relaxed, and content, in most things I do. I have a unique hobby that has incredible potential. I have found out much about myself, and unlocked my imagination. I'm sure it will give me many more years of happiness!

Even though I have never had an LD (or should I say one that I can remember ), even just getting close, the meditation, and enhanced dream recall, I have a widely increased attention span, creativity, and patience. Along with a moderate to large increase in academics, spacial awareness (especially in my field of work), and philosophy.

I wouldn't be able to name anything else on the spot right now, but I know there hasn't been any negative effects whatsoever, which leads me to believe that if this is only the beginning for me, I can't wait for what's down the road.

Theres no dream like the dream of reality.

I remember that is exactly how I felt before I managed to have lucids.

And it took me around 6-8 months to have one. Without the amazing benefits to my overall well-being I would have most likely given up well before.

I can't wait to have more lucid dreams. I have already had benefits from my normal dreams since I've been paying more attention to them and keeping a DJ. I've actually overcame some random fears and got over my ex in regular dreams. In my most recent lucid dream, I think I met my dream guide which was awesome. The benefits of dreaming in general are just amazing, I wish I had started a DJ years earlier.
