When can i stop my dream journal?

i have gotten to a point where i can recall 2-3 dreams per night, i can remember them all in the morning with detail even if a haven't written a single dream down in a couple of weeks. So can i stop with the dream journal?

Sure, its only to have fun and help with recall, if you don't find it fun nor need help with recall, I see no point in keeping one lol

Why would you want to stop???? I really don't understand. Keeping a DJ is one of the highlights of the whole experience. To reread and remember your dreams? Why stop that?

Agree with you! I just reread some of my dreams, and a couple of them had strong feelings in them. I remembered those feelings when I reread it, it was really nice. It can also be amusing to go back and read those oddball dreams, or to wonder what the heck you ate for dinner that made you have that dream.

But, I agree with Walms in that if you don't care about keeping a log to reread and it doesn't help you with recall, it's up to you whether to stop or not.

For us lazy people it brings more of a hassel than an actual reward.

I got lazy and stopped and my recall and lucid dream frequency went down with it I'd recommend experimenting- stop for a couple of weeks, see how the recall and LD frequency goes. If it has an impact, judge for yourself if it is worth it!

I had six dreams last night I remembered when I woke up in the morning. They were almost all seperated with waking up too.

      None Lucid.

I got to a point where I just hated writing my dreams down. Typically, they are very boring and not worth taking the time out of my morning to record.

I stopped months ago and my recall seems to be just as strong as it was. I remember at least 3 dreams every morning. If I find them worthy of recording, then I will write them. I write all of my LDs down no matter how small.

I say you give it a try and find out. Everyone is different.

One of the reasons one should keep a DJ is to help recall lucids when they happen. I am inclined to agree with my brother that lucids tend to be easier to remember (at least for us). Of course, I suppose you have to question how many you might have forgotten. There is no way to find out though LOL.

I wouldn't stop, but that's just me. If I stop, then at first I'll still remember most parts of a few dreams when I wake up, but over time, I slowly begin to lose my ability to remember...

If you stop using your dream journal, basically your recall will lower. I stopped bothering to recall or record my dreams, and I was in this session for many months. The first night I decided to record the next morning, I remembered over 5 dreams, just because I had motivation and took the time to recall the next morning. Master your recall; 2-3 is okay, but you can definitely go further than that.

Hell, I don't know what I was trying to say. Just keep going.

Dream diary forces recall. Since I started journalling I've remembered at least 1 dream a night, sometimes as much as 3.

I highly disliked keeping my journal. I hate writing and it was just annoying writing down 3-5 dreams every morning. so i stopped ^_^

I wouldnt use words like FORCE when you are talking about dream journal. Dream journal is really an aid. And as you will progressively find out, it helps not only with recall, but with understanding yourself as a whole.

Still. If you would like not to use dream journal, just remember, that success is not about journalling dreams, but about recalling them.

      don't stop the recall!!!

if you stop writing your dreams down, at lot of times what happens is as the month progress you slowly forget more and more. and then your dream recall goes poop

if the dream is boring and you don't want to write about, at least think about the dream first thing you wake up in the morning. really recall of the details the same as if you were writing. and take just a minute to paraphrase the dream in a sentence or two. it doesn't have to sound pretty, no one else is going to read it.

its just more important to recall the dream and think about for a minute or two. remembering the dream when you wake up isn't enough

don't stop. If you must, don't write down every detail, but just write down key words. For example, if you have a dream about a giant spider in a tutu selling you pizza, don't write every detail, just write "spider, tutu, pizza" and you'll remember it when you read it.

But a while ago I got to the point where I could remember about 2 vivid dreams a night, so I stopped writing. I could still remember the dreams, but once I started writing in my journal again, I started having a lot more DILDs. The reason that happened is because the dream journal serves two purposes. There's the obvious: improving recall, and the second is that when you write something down, it engraves it in your mind more. This isn't only to help you remember it necessarily, but to help you keep thinking about it more during the day, even if its subconsciously. It helps to keep that "dream feeling" with you longer, so when you do reality checks they're more useful. It brings the dreams to the surface of your mind, making dreams more relevant to your daily life.
