How can you realise you're in a dream if you're not in it?!

I often have dreams that I'm not even in, like "movie dreams" or "tv show" dreams, with characters from said things. But... I'm not even in them, so how on earth can you realise you're dreaming it?!

Do some searches for third-person-dreams or something to that effect, there are quiet a few floating around DV. Here are two that I remember and was able to find:

When I have 3rd person dreams I recognize that I am disembodied and that is usually what helps me become lucid.

Ya, even though I'm frequently aware that I'm dreaming during third person dreams, they're not real lds. For me it is pretty hard to directly switch from this type of dream to a real ld.

A few times I have been able to embody one of the characters and directly enter a real ld.

Well, isn't not having a body enough for a RC?

Ya it is. For me the issue is the difficulty of manifesting a body or entering a DCs body once you become aware, plus it is difficult to become very aware at all during these dreams.

I usually get stuck in observer mode and even though I may influence things by thought, I do not feel exceptionally present either physically or mentally.
