      An experiment....

I've been thinking... I have heard that everything we see, hear or experience in our lives is stored in our subconcious memory; even though we have only limited access to it.
For example, if I read a book, I will not be able to say what exactly is written on page 135.
I'm gonna do a little experiment. The dreamworld is the world of the subconcious, right?

I'm going to read a page of a random book. Any page, and I'm just gonna read it quickly, without thinking too much about what is written there.
Then I go to sleep. If I have an LD, I go to my room, pick up the book that is conveniently there, go to that page; and read one random sentence on that page. I will study that sentence and memorize it.
When I wake up, I will get my real book; and check whether the sentence is there. What do you guys think?

I'm no expert but I thought I read somewhere that text isn't stable in dreams. I.E. it will change every time you look away, will be blurry, and what not because some people use that for a RC.

If that doesn't work you might be able to get it another way like asking a DC what a line from the book is or something.

Interesting idea though, let us know how it goes

I know, but I've read text before in dreams, so maybe I'll get lucky.

go for it! i like to read in dreams as boring as that may sound, it is actually always very interesting as it isn't the same as when you do it awake.

I like the idea, but there might be better ways to go about it. Since so many people experience the text issue, maybe another form of access could be used. I was going to say use music and a song you've never heard and check the accuracy of the lyrics, but people often get those pesky electronic failures. I think the most reliable would be to ask a friendly, helpful DC what the page said or what the lyrics were.

It'd probably also be best, if you were to read, to say the words word for word but try not to think of them or come up with a summary by distracting yourself immediately after reading. In fact it would probably be best to go with Ebbinghaus and use CVC nonsense syllables to really be accurate. Just write them down, making them up as you write. Hide it away, quiz your DCs. That's how I'd do it.
