      ORC - opposite reality check

Right, I don't know if something like this already exists/has been discussed, but I propose a check for non-dreaming. This will consist of checking for non-dreamsigns, as in stuff that cannot be experienced or is unusual in (non lucid) dreams. What's the benefit of this? it's a fast and easy check to rule out you are dreaming without performing a conspicuous reality check. However when in doubt, always RC!

      1. feeling tired/sleepy -you don't feel tired sleepy in dreams, with the obvious exception of a false awakening
      2. feeling hot/cold - you don't feel temperatures in dreams, even in hot/cold environments/dream scenes.
3.boring/monotonous situations- this is a tricky one- you can be in boring situations in dreams like, say, being in class or on a bus/taxi/etc but these tend to fast forward pretty quickly
4.physical pain/discomfort- while you can be injured in dreams you don't feel real pain- emotional pain- yes.

note: these statements do not apply when lucidity is gained! (or their application has yet to be tested)

these findings are based solely on my (few) experiences and expert advice would help regarding what to add or correct in this list.

This isn't universal. In fact, as far as I know, you are in the minority if your nonlucids never include at least some of these sensations.

My sentiments exactly, your non-lucids must be very unvivid, I feel temperature and pain sometimes, I feel boredom when the dream is about something I'm not interested in, and I have felt tired a few times and read on here about other people feeling tired.
I would never, ever rely on these because giving them attention by questioning if they are present in a dream may cause them to exist. Safer to just state test and question whether or not you're dreaming, than to assume that your mind won't be able to emulate heat, boredom, etc. and to miss an opportunity to become lucid. If you cultivate overall awareness in waking life, not just RCing as a habit at certain times or to dream signs that might not turn up, you've got a good enough chance of becoming lucid I think.

hold up a minute, i think your on to something.

if you do a check which is meant for realisation that you are awake(i think that is pretty much what you meant) then it would be a lot easier to remember to do/get in the habbit. because you have more of a reason to do it when awake, therefore you would do it more, therefore get in the habbit, therefore start doing it in dreams.

Hm, my non lucid Dreams have all of those things in it... The only difference to my lucid and non lucids are the awareness. Other then that, they are both very vivid and real feeling. I like normal RCs better. Keep being creative tho

I get hot and cold in my lucid dreams. Like one time I was lucid, and I was sweating it felt like in my dream, so I noticed I was wearing a hoodie, so I took it off, and I felt somewhat better, but when I walked through a doorway it was back on lol

Sorry, but none of your criteria holds true, which is one of the reasons we must check if we are dreaming instead of check if we are not dreaming.

To be lucid is to oppose confirmation bias. You get what I mean, right?
