      What is more real?

I remember asking my brother whom is indiferent towards lucid dreaming what is more real, the dog his petting in his DS game, or the one he could play with in a Lucid Dream.

I thought that it was a good question (Yeah me! lol). What do you guys think? What's more real? The things you do or see through a screen or the things you actually do. What could you really brag about? Seeing something rarely seen on TV or seeing something in a Lucid Dream. Could you brag about doing bunji jumping in a lucid dream? The point is not to brag, but what do you think? Can we describe what we go through in our dreams as real? Besides, we ARE in a REAL place when we are in dream. We are in our subconscious. All we are seeing, we REALY our seeing it and what we our doing, we really are doing it, just in our imagination but what is the difference between reality and our imagination. As long as you've exeperienced it and seen it, you've done it, right? On a line of 1 to 10, where would you put vivid/lucid dreaming 10 being as real as reality and 1 being the fakest?

I can't really say with any certainty, as I haven't ever experienced LD, but both strike me as simply being as real as your brain wants it to be. Both are fake, both don't really exist, but on the realism scale my assumption would be that LD dog would take the prize as being more realistic.

That being said, this is a site about LD, there's not going to be a lot of unbiased opinions on this.

Lucid dreaming senses are equal to those of waking senses. The main differences between the dream and reality are that dreams are less consistent, don't abide by physics, and aren't a shared experience. The senses are equally vivid.

I'd say the lucid dream dog.

If you think dreams aren't vivid, then you haven't been fully remembering them!

dreams are immeasurably more realistic than anything a 2d screen can project -I have a 3d-capable monitor (like IMAX ) but even so dreams are more realistic since you have all your senses and the immersion is still greater.
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
      TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!

Its funny that you say it.

One day I told my freinds that I had flown across the sky, above this place were we talked. They said "Oh man, in a plane? did you fly in a plane" I said no.

After a while I explained that it was a lucid dream, one of them frowned upon me and said it wasn't real. I said it was very real too me.

I asked him what is one of the main objective or goal in life? Experience he said, "exactly" I responded.

I can fly in the sky, go from galaxy to galaxy faster than the speed of light, create and destroy, and it would still be real to me, it would still be a real experience.

I think the same way. THis was just to see you guys' opinion. 'cause as long as you've felt it, it's all that count, right? I can't wait for my first lucid dreams. Last night, I've goten my first Lucid dream but it wasn't lucid enough for me to call it a lucid dream. I was trying to fly though and I couldn't. The dream felt like a normal dream even though I knew I was dreaming. I just didn't concentrate enough. I'm almost there

Everything is made by our minds. Our minds just get random info from the senses, and the mind constructs a world from that.
When you dream, it's still the same, except the input is minimalized.
This is why I think LD experiences are more real than Non-LD experiences

When I got into lucid dreaming it was such a thrill to me to know that I could train myself to do this that I did in fact tell my family and friends. A lot of them gave me guff over it saying such as, "It is not real, what is the point of it? What are you trying to achieve, why do you want to do that?"

My reply to these comments were simply thus.

"Why do you watch tv? Why do you watch movies? Why do you read books? Why do you play games? It is not real yet you do so because you love the adventure it offers. The entertainment of it all. Lucid dreaming can be used for much more then just flying around like superman. It can help people get over fears, and to live a better real life. I am going to spend 20+ years of my life sleeping anyways, why not get the best out of it that I can? Because in the end my dream is more realistic then any movie, book or game will ever be, and it is 100% free. So you may mock the idea of it, but remember when you go to sleep you will just wake up not remember a thing, while I am living my fantasies."

To OP though, I have yet to have a LD but however a LD is a world projected inside of your brain. 100% realistic in every detail, from smell, all the way down to taste. Yes it may not be "real" but your mind will not know the difference and it will provide you with a whole world full things that engage all your senses, where as a game is only visual and sound.

Of course the simpletons of the Earth see real as the time you're awake and not hallucinating. As if you can ever know for certain...

If you know you're dreaming, it's an LD. Stability is not a requirement.

I didn't really know I was dreaming. I did, but I wasn't conscious and weird things seemed normal too. I already have been more lucid but that wa before even knowing about it so it lasted 2 seconds...
