      Feel myself sleeping while LDing....

It seems like when I realize that I am dreaming, I suddenly become more aware of the fact that I am laying down and that my eyes are closed; I can actually feel myself in bed and feel my eyes closed. It really makes the LD much less interesting because its more like I'm watching than doing. It makes me really frustrated and I just wake myself up. I haven't actively tried to attain lucidity for about a year, and I was never really that good at it, but I try every now and then. Is this common for people? How can I get past this?

Try to stabilize a dream and ignore the sensations of your real body. If your brain is processing "I feel as though I am laying in a bed in my bedroom" I think you're going to have trouble simultaneously experiencing "I feel as though I am flying through the air/doing battle with dragons/having dream sex/driving a sports car/whatever". Whenever I pay attention to my real body in dreams, the quality abruptly ends and I typically wake up

Just ignore it, and overrun whatever you just experienced with dream sensations. If you can hear your fan, imagine you hear a DC talking to you in the dream and focus on that (of course, sound is different). If you feel your pillow on your head, imagine it's because you're wearing a helmet or hat of some sort is my advice.

A risky suggestion might be to lay down in a "dream bed" and apply the feeling of your eyes close and bed to your dream. (Or apply it to similar feeling-but different, like Shift said, might be better).
But maybe you would go into a false awakening with better awareness of the dream....?
      Not sure though
The creature laughed, scornfully. "I," it said, "am afraid of nothing." "Nothing?" "Nothing," it said. "Are you extremely afraid of nothing?" "Absolutely terrified of it," admitted the dragon. "You know, I have nothing in my pocket, would you like to see it?" "No," said the dragon, uncomfortably, "I most definitely would not." There was flapping....and Charlie was alone of the beach.
"That," he said, "was much too easy."

I think this is pretty common. I know I get it all the time. To get past it, I try to focus more on my dream body interacting with the dream environment. I will touch things around me, run my hands across the ground, or jump up and down to get a feeling for movement. If you are worried you might move your real body, then just visualize doing it. Once you are dreaming, any willful visualization can easily take over as a full dream. Shifting your attention to your dream body should make you forget about your real body.

I'm really grateful from bumping into this thread since not so long ago I had a DEILD but I thought I was maybe still just visualising and not LDing so I tried seeing if I was awake and it felt like I was so I woke up... I'll know not to do that again
