I sometimes yell 'tech support' and look upset, just cause I find that so funny. Awesome movie.

I really like the original Spanish version, Abres los Ojos. It's more dreamlike, with better acting, and just doesn't have that Hollywood super-glossy-photo look.

I just got the movie Vanilla Sky,

It was definetly interesting, and I like the final plunge at the end

      Not a bad movie..

When I first saw the movie I didn't know what it was about. I knew that it was based off Lucid dreaming but from the trailers I saw online they didn't really show that side of it, so it took me awhile to actually see this movie. Though, when I saw the movie I was right about when the dream actually started "the Splice." I remember saying " that sky can't be real." yes, I felt proud for pin pointing it. But anyway, it is a great movie and I just got it for Christmas. haha, yeah , I love the tech support part.

Though, I sort of have a question while were on this topic. I'll put it in white just in case this is giving away the movie.

when he took the pills in waking life so his body could be taken to LE did he die? I thought that he did but when he jumped off the building at the end of the movie and he opens his eyes isn't that when he starts to live in waking life again. I'm just a bit confused about that so did he completely die when he took the pills?

I saw Vanilla sky a while back, when I was in high school. it is one of my top favorite movies of all time... and i think it's very under rated movie that most people don't understand.

and to answer your question Erin... below in white ^^

basically, when he ended his "waking" life, it was after the club scene where he gets left behind at the end and passes out on the street. he did not literally 'die' though, he tried to commit suicide i think, and then his body was taken to be chryonized or whatever... that is when his lucid dreaming started. the movie leaves off to the scene where he wakes up next morning and penelope is there and they are back together again, which is all part of his dream. the scene in which he jumps off in the end is him trying to wake up from his lucid dream. that was his final moment in which he overcame his fear of heights. when he wakes up for the last time, that is him back in his wake life.

      hope it helps.

Problem with the movie is that it is not really a lucid dream because he is not in control, etc.

I suppose this branches into philosophy about the true nature of a lucid dream..

      Just saw it. Fucking wow.
I watched the first few minutes a few years ago. I was ten or something. Lol. I remember the empty street and the drawing of Sofia. And the mask.

But now I actually watch it. This whole movie about nothing, lol. And she's dead, and he's heading into some messed up future. How awesome, eh?

So the best and worst movie ever, at the same time. Lol.

I remember being excited to see it when it first came out, then disappointed. I thought it was pretty crappy, and presented dreams and lucid dreams in a generic and unrealistic way. The spanish version is much better, and I'm not a foreign film snob at all.

I saw that a while ago, it was pretty great! It was really confusing at times, and I didn't really like the ending, but it did make me have a lucid dream that night!

Doesn't that contradict the meaning of "lucid"?

      1. Was that french girl real - Yes, he really met her at the party
      2. what happened to him at the end did he wake up without the mucked up face - Possibly, but they said that they would fix it, maybe after he woke up
      3. has anyone juped of that high a building ... awsome!!! - Much higher than that, jumping off of things is fun

I realized what was going on the instant I saw the Freewheeling Bob Dylan scene.

Saw it last night for the first time and loved it. It had a big cast but wasn't a hit movie, which I like. It has an amazing sound track; REM, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, and Paul McCartney are all my favorites. It really doesn't have that much to do with lucid dreaming. He's not aware that it's a dream and therefore can't control it. Although I would pay so much money to be suspended in a lucid dream state.

Read "Ubik" by Philip K. Dick and everything in that movie will make sense.

he didnt know he was lucid, contradicting OUR meaning of lucid..
but the software was just the Lucid Dream option meaning he'd have no recollection of his death or know he was dreaming until he figured it out.
I mean i'm sure you would recognize sooner or later and have full control.
The movie kinda confused me too though.
      I love it
