      Cheesy does it...

      Hi guys...

This is only my second post, after introducing myself a few months ago, but the problem I've been having thus far, as far as waking during the early hours and taking notes on dreams (diary), is that I'm far too tired (wife snores and getting right back to sleep is too important thus...) to do so...

I've done a quick look round, but could not see anything relating to eating cheese (I'm sure there is so) just before retiring at night?!? Sorry if there is and I could not find it - the Lucid Dream abrevs are loosing me at present, not used to abrevs and such like.

Anyway, to get me dreaming and away from the snoring partner, the cheese diet just before bed seems to be working wonders! The dreams are soooo realistic and prolonged but as yet, I haven't been able to be fully aware that I'm actually dreaming. But the emotional content of the dream/s is/are extremely high bordering realistic; colours, smells, even air blown wind, which is new to me. And they seem to be lasting for ever - and even if I relax and close my eyes again at even 8am or later next day, I seem to slip right back into numerous dreams - but not Lucid as yet.

There was an interesting dream some weeks aback now, when I was with my wife and we were casually walking through a brightly coloured field of greens and reds and yellows etc... And my wife gestured (not spoken) that it would be great if we could fly!!! And guess what? I simply believed I could fly and up we slowly went... Holding hands. We were kinda upright at first, as I suggested (not spoken) to my wife that it would be easier this way at first (as if I was some kind of expert?!?). And then we sort of levelled out facing down towards the field and flew with our hands slightly foraward, until we got about thirty feet above the green grasses. I still was not aware that I was dreaming, but fully accepted the wonderful situation. And then my wife started panicking somewhat (as she sometimes does in real life), and her non-streamlined shape could no longer hold the flight, and we rapidly descended. I gestured for her to lift her legs up a bit, as they were scraping the grass, but her head went down, and we started flying through the tall grass instead of the sky. I was a wee bit frustrated to be honest - as I was fully enjoying the feeling of flying for the first time in my life. I'd never managed to fly in my years as a very Lucid Dreamer in my childhood, and even though this dreaming was now ending, it was a lovely experience to have had.

Might keep the cheese at bedtime going for a bit just to get back into the swing of things after soooo many years out of the saddle.

PS: numerous apologies for not using your Lucid Dreaming abbreviations. As a full time carer I cannot as yet spent enough time on-line to learn these, but will try in future...

      Happy dreaming to you all...

A quick search shows that it has been mentioned from time to time...

It's likely to do with the amino acids and other chemicals present in cheese, like tryptamines, etc.

I've heard people say cheese helps their dreams. I've always just assumed that eating anything right before bed, or during a WBTB will give you more vivid dreams. People swear by the strangest things. Everything from chocolate, to apple juice, to bananas.

It could have something to do with B vitamins and tryptamines, as Odd said.

Have you checked out the Lucid Aids section of the site?
