Who knows, I would think it is to some extent because of hormones and the like, but so far I don't know of a study on that, so who knows lol |

Hello... Is it true that learning LDing become harder as we grow up ?! |

would like to know if thats true... if it is then we all should have started earlier :S |

Bollocks.
Learning anything becomes more difficult as a person ages. While we're young, our brain cells are growing, making new connections, etc. at an an accelerated rate. Children taking foreign language classes learn the languages faster than older persons taking the same course. So, why shouldn't learning to LD be anything different? |

Well, I am not sure how much LDs happen in REM sleep, but, babies as I recall dream 50% in REM and this moves to 30% and settles at 20% for adults. IF LDs are linked to REM, then less time for REM means less time to LDing thus becoming harder to LD, because, you need some precise timing |

Don't forget that sleep disorders are frequently when you get older, and your brain will need less sleep too. Dreaming it's essential so you will always dream, and if you dream, lucid dreaming still to be possible. |

I think it is because we think more things are possible when we are younger. If you walked up to an adult and said, "You can realize you are dreaming while you are dreaming", they'd think you were insane. They would be like |

Well, I'm 15. I had lurked the site at 13, joined at 14 ( I'm 15 now, don't ban me! D: ) and can say that I have generally had a lot more success than some of the older members of the site. I would think it probably goes by the same principle as how grade school kids can learn a different language easier than high school students. Plus, I think that many older adults probably go about trying to attain lucidity in a different mindset than most adolecents and young adults. While older members may look at it the same way as studying a subject in school, or something that takes a lot of effort to acheive, I think that younger members think of the whole thing as less of an outlandish concept, and overall more of a carefree and acheivable goal. Thinking it is easy makes it easier. That's psychology for you. There's probably many more factors that go into it, but this might be one of the most major. |

What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?
Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?
I think that maybe it have something to do with the way most people becomes less and less aware of things around them as they get older. I remember using my senses much more as a kid, marvelling at things like a sunstroke through a coloured glass, taking impulses in a much richer way than i do now as 36. |

Agreed with topic starter. After a long time of trying a bunch of tecnhiques, I came to the conclusion lucid dreaming is completely natural and all techniques only slowed down my progress. I think thats why so many among us used to be able to naturally lucid dream when we were a kid. Compared to older people, kids don't have as many mental limitations and rules telling them what is possible and what is not possible. |
