Tried again this morning. I was on the run from this guy, but then thought of our lucid goal. While i was running, I yelled out my name "Trey" (looking to the right) "Trey" (looking to the left) No luck.

Then I tried meditation again. It was a similar effect as the last time I attempted it, just not as extreme of an outcome. I did drink last night so...

I don't know, it seems like you have a certian level of power while lucid to work with. Some times more, somtimes less. I havn't analyzed it too much as of yet.

Gotta keep working on it. =)

maybe if summoning a copy of you is too hard, just try to talk to your inner voice and let it echo like a guide

but im sure u can do anything if you believe you can

Can't you talk to your inner voice while awake? I don't know, but wasting a LD for that seems like too much a waste. I tried talking while awake, it works, too, and you can get pretty weird answers if you try not to interfere with what "your subconscious" is saying. Sometimes it's some kind of gibberish, sometimes something more meaningful, and sometimes it reacts to you in a different way.

It must be the very same way that talking to yourself works in dreams, but you don't have to waste them

Wouldn't it be worth time in lucidity to prove your theory? It sounds like assumptions to me. I'm not saying that listening to your subconscience in RL is impossible, but to see the difference of the inner voice between the two states could give us an incredible understanding of our sleeping subconscience. How would you be able to do that otherwise? Or is that the same as dream interpretation?

(My state of mind is a little off today, ADD is going crazy =D)

What theory? I believe that you can talk to the subconscious via LDs already, just like via letting it "speak" by other means.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Imagination

It's not only only about images, though, you can talk and get answers.

Seriously, I find it just too easy to do to waste LDs for that.

Try it if you're interested. It works very well. Until I tried I had no idea how well it can work, because it sounded too easy. Well, it is easy! And it works, too. With a little trying the answers of the subconscious in words or images are just as much weird gibberish as they'd usually be in LDs. So, I can't see the difference between this and LDing.

One of the things I question about this is if you are not *creating* it.

How can one find truth in a dream if you have nothing to base truth off of (a person, a journal entry, etc...)?

Our dreams are manifestations of what we create (especially lucids). How can you be 100% sure that everything is not just yourself answering it how you THINK it should be answered(kind of like answering your own question)?

It's kind of hard to explain. But, how would you know that you're actually remembering something from your past and not creating something new?

We've all seen child birth, so you're mind could very well manifest something to fit it. While it would feel like it really happened, you would *never* 100% know for sure if that's REALLY how it happened unless you have a video of your childbirth.

I can't imagine something like this being easy to test.

I wonder why you think that we're largely responsible.

Tell me, do you really think that you're conscious in your normal dreams? Do you create them consciously? Do you always know what will happen and how it will happen beforehand?

In LDs, do you never become surprised, nothing ever fails, you always know what's going to happen the next second, how it's going to look like in details, and you can always predict what your DCs will say?

And last but not least, what is it that you're trying to control in LDs and what is it that makes you fail when you fail?

It's not so far-fetched to think that this force can be contacted imho.

But, how would you know that you're actually remembering something from your past and not creating something new?
Well people can be hypnotized and they remember things vividly. I don't know how they decide that what they remembered was real, but I think that if we remember something real we usually feel that it's real.

Very interesting thread. I am particularly interested in the interaction with DC's.

I have been LDing for years on and off. mainly spotaniuose DILDs. During these times, I have had many interesting conversations with DC's. In one vivid LD, the DC was my best friend. So vivid was the experience, I felt compelled to ask him "are you actually here sharing my dream?" he explained that he was only the the manifestation of my memories of him and that I was actually talking to my own mind. (not the kind of words my real friend would have used at all).

I have told DC's to shut up and mocked them because I know that they dont even exhist.

Recently I found myself consoling a DC who was sobbing when she realised that SHE didnt really exhist.

I think that there are profound answers to be had. But as you mentioned earlier, its all about discerning what is real and what is imagined. In alot of my dreams, I'm not even me but somebody else. I dont agree that its a waste of a LD to persue this. I'm getting pretty bored of flying now and am looking for new things to do while in LD.

wow thats pretty interesting. anyway i agree that it is not a waste (of course, i started the thread ) and we should definitely explore these things in our LDs if we can.

Ok, I've decided to change my direction plan. This past night I had a lucid dream where I was trying to summon myself again to talk to it directly. This did not work out again. *sigh*. There were some DCs around so I proposed the question "Does anyone have anything they think I should know??" (Or something along those lines).

They all (four) started to come up to me and talked about different subjects. I thought this was incredible. Yet all at once made it completely incomprehensible.

My next lucid I was in conversation with just one DC and asked him if there was anything that he thought I should know. He opened up on a topic that reminded me alot of A Waking Life [how the guy just goes around listening to random topics]. ...It seems I have ADD in my dream world as well....

Now, this guy started to talk to me about a subject matter that I had never heard before, with dialect that was supierior to my own (Graduate level). I think it had to do with human existence but am not sure because I was more focused on what he looked like, how he was expressing himself, and the idea that this guy was talking about something on a level that I was even having problems comprehensing. I even noticed I no opionions of my own because I have never thought of this before.

In short, if we give DCs the power to talk freely, we might be able to tap into a sort of universal conscienceness. At least, from my experience last night, this is what I am starting to believe.

We may start, if given the ability to let DCs express themselves, to find the answers we're looking with less of our thoughts and oppionions interfereing with the knowledge that we gain and continue to post them here.

This is a really interesting thread. I have often wondered similar things to what are posted in this thread, but seen as i have only just recently started acheiving LDs, and cant even fly it may take me a while to do what i want.

I want to try out talking to my DCs about things and seeing what they come up with. I really want to try things like hearing made up music and seeing pictures that my mind has made up.

This thread has given me my first dream goal!

I find this thread very interesting too. I had very few encounters with dream characters, my dream world seems to be lacking DCs or maybe I haven't look hard enough for them...
Either way I'm doing the same thing , my main goal is to have conversations with DCs.

OK i haven´t read the Whole thread sorry but this i my Opinion.

In My Lucid Dream i flew Over a Nearly perfect Rome, when someone would ask me how Romw Looks and where i which Monument and so on i could not tell..but in My Dream i Knew it so i think when we are in LD we have much more Information...maybe it has something to do with that we when we are awake only use 2-3% of our Brain...i think

this is an incredibly widespread half-truth. what should be said is that we use 4-10 percent of our brain at any given time. let there be no mistake we use 100% of our brain, but we don't use the part that interprets sound for clicking our tongue together as an example. in other words we use it all just not all at once. our brain is specialized, like a computer. we wouldn't use a word program to play a video, but that doesn't mean we never use word. as for remembering something that you've never seen there are two possible explanations. 1. you've seen it and just don't remember or possibly 2. what ever u saw was vague and in ur waking state ur mind just filled in the blanks. this is called an autobiographical belief.
i think 2 is more likely because people have a hard time remembering dreams as it is leaving much interpretation to the brain. it may sound like a weird thing, but do a little research on long term memory and u will find that its not a very uncommon thing at all.
it would be nice to think we can remember things that we haven't experienced, but an ordinary explanation is far more likely then an extraordinary one.

some interesting articles about how much we can trust our own memory are below.

I have seen many posts like this pop up since I've come to this forum. But never have i seen the question that really should be asked when asking something like this. What makes ur unconscious mind any better a observer or explainer of the world then the conscious mind?
Everyone seems so ready to just assume that our unconscious mind has all the answers. I ask u! WHY?

Nobody is ready to assume that, you just kept bumping into posts of such people by accident. I think that the subconscious is a big pile of suppressed contradicting thoughts and excessive ideas.

But to answer your question, maybe people who believe otherwise think that even if the subconscious is garbage it contains intuition, and pure intuition is always magically correct. Just an idea. I can make up no other reason to think that the subconsciousness can be clairvoyant.

We dont necessarily assume, but we wonder. Since we know much less about the subconscious mind, we throw around ideas and experiences which point to the direction that it can help with certain things, but these of course, are just theories. Its quite simple if you look at it this way: your subconscious mind is not as limited as your conscious mind which can allow you to understand or create certain things which you would not be able to in waking life. For example art. This is very well accepted that you can be more creative when asleep. Some psychiatrists attempt to reveal answers to patients via sleep or hypnotism. To help understand what is wrong, the cause of the problems, remember lost memories, all things which are occassionally blocked by our conscious mind for certain reasons or the body speaks to the subconscious mind much better than the conscious mind.

How interesting would that be to be able to ask a DC about things you don't remember from your childhood and get answers, or find out how you (yourself) was feeling while going through childbirth or what it was like to be in the womb... OR.... say you read something and even though you don't retain the info, you could recall the info an a LD.. This would have made school much easier. My god the possibilities and the things you could learn about yourself.

I myself would love to hear what peoples opinions of what the unconscious mind is are. It is a very unexplored area.

but in regard to the quote above. I think that you're blurring the line between the conscious and unconscious mind. Before information can be remembered it must pass the conscious mind. Even in the case of what many would like learn about themselves just because the unconscious mind knows something doesn't mean the conscious mind does. In order for us to then know it our conscious mind must examine it. So even if you read something and your unconscious could recall it, you'd still have to have your conscious mind examine it. If you ask me might as well just read it the first time and get it over with.
      But that's just my opinion.

OH also, ur assuming that the mind remembers everything that it see's. this is not the case. Filtering is taking place at every second of your day. As you type it's unlikely that you're also paying attention to what's going on in the distance. So, will this be remembered?
and even besides filtering our brain kills off brain cells as we age, so some memories just get destroyed.

yes nyrawake is very right davej, some of your examples are a little too extreme. When I say retrieve answers I dont mean this becoming a breakthrough in science finding all lost secrets and memories, but a possible channel of information that may or may not exist, but could still help guide in the right direction. Nyrawake you are correct however some memories are harder to retrieve or access in the waking state, and im sure in your dreams youve personally experienced something you had completely forgotten about but recalled via the dream.

I guess I don't get what you are saying, from my understanding, it seemed like you were talking about remembering things you have forgotten through LDs.... That is basically what I was stating. anyhow deep thought though.

what im trying to say is some things you have lost are lost forever. child birth is most probably completely forgotten. because it no longer exists in your brain, besides at that age memories dont stick. what im saying is stuff that may be locked away rather than not there at all.

I have read this there and thrilled that someone else thought of this. I have myself had a few conversations in the past with my dcs and still remmber them to this day. Bits and peices but yet its somthing

One thing I noticed when i picked a DC out of the blue, they often looked at me with a black stare or try talking about somthing else, but finally I got a few answers.

One point i was trying very hard to contact my Dream guide I got into the idea. when i asked a dc why i cant meet them he said
"You shouldn't talk to them you Lose a part of yourself."

Very strange in the matter in another one i was scream in fustration because i wanted to create my fav superheros to fight along side in battle but yet I could never do it.

Finally a dc spoke to me " Because your obsessed with it."

So that tells me a few things I did notice when I finally gave in and stopped a few months later i began to dream about them almost constant.

DCs sometimes to me are somewhat diffcult to have a conversation with and not get something soild because to me then every DC is just you but then you think if you ever ready the therory of shareing dreams is it really possible to have converations with other RL people in dreams?

I will Try on this but My major goal was to unlock my memory all I learned in school and life, so i never have to relearn it. Or Unlock abilitys I never new I had like Drawing was one I was hopeing For.

Talk to your subconscious before sleep I tend to do alot with out relizeing it, if it is such a thing. Its like coming out of thought and im really hearing the conversation which is werid.

I have asked it many things but yet never really fell through, like I did ask to conversation in person in the dreaming world which never happen but the voice told me sure. So i cant really prove much but its a start.
