      One year! No results...

It was just about one year ago that I first read about lucid dreaming. Unfortunately, I've had only 2 LDs so far! It's kind of disheartening to think I might average 2 a year. I Don't doubt its a questions on weather or not I'm interested! I've kept a dream journal... uh... on and off... (Busy you know?) and when i didn't keep one, I always awoke consciously remembering my dreams, I just had no time to write them down. I feel like all it will take for me to "Get it", to understand how to continue from reading tutorials to no results, to 1 a week, 2 a week etc, is to have just one LD under controlled conditions. i.e. A RC initiated DILD (Both LDs I've had so far, i kinda just knew, i didn't do a an RC or anything, i was just like Woah, cool, dream!"), a WILD, or a MILD. And its not like I don't try! I'm up often at 3:00, and many times i feel I've gotten close but no cigar.

I was just wondering, any one else experience this kinda... wall? I feel like I'm so close to getting over the wall, all i need is one more LD! Anyone know what I'm talking about at all? Am I just crazy?

I feel like this, but I've only been trying to 3 nights, so I'm doing pretty normal right now. It's such a weird thing, I think once I have one I'll be a lot better off.

You know, I have known about LDing for 6 years now, and it was only in the past 15 months that I got anything over 1 or 2 lucid dreams per year. Trust me, there's hope

What techniques have you been trying, really, besides keeping a dreamjournal? There are so many different ones out there, maybe you're just focusing on something that is more difficult. Chances are there's a technique out there that, if you have the drive and are gonna put in the effort, will pay off.

I recommend these, just to get you started thinking about this topic.

Now, I had EWOLD for a year before I joined DV, and it didn't do me a whole lot of good. I think reading about LDing, thinking about different techniques, rationalizing how lucidity works, really helped me understand how I personally should try to achieve it and I think that's what helped me begin to have success.

4 and 1/2 years, shift? Damn, you are dedicated. I'll never look at your creepy smiley avatar the same again!
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

I never knew such quizzes existed! Thanks! Well i took the first one WILD/DILD and got WILD, so i suppose the other one is less useful, but it took it and got "Reality Checks to Increase Awarness" I shall take both into account!

What I've sorta been doing is maybe for 2 weeks, i'll say "Ok, i'm going to do X" and i'll read topics here about it, i'll look it up in "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" And i'll sort of dedicate those to weeks to that one topic. Then when it doesn't work, i'll move on to a different topic. I'm constantly on google, over here, or other places on the internet looking for different things, but i usualy settle on doing RCs during the day, and either just trying that, or working on WILDs or MILDs at night (if i have time)

After actually typing that out, it sounds useless! I have to focus on one thing... You know WILDs are probably the hardest thing to do, but I've experienced SP before, and i say BRING IT!

That is some bad luck you got. But you got to keep trying as hard as you can. Keep your mind set towards achieving your goal of an LD.
Take a good 2-3 months of full, 100%, motivation towards LD, see if you can get one, if not, keep trying.

ditto bro. just keep trying. i've only had a few so far but like shift said, just keep going. it's way more common than you think, everyone develops at a different rate
      Total LD's = 6 and counting! lol

that's good! don't rush it- as long as you feel there is progress then there usually is. Continue trying!

Oh I experienced a wall, 8 years with no sucess at all... nothing other than of course the natural ones. I wonder, has you tried everything in the tutorials? Because maybe thats the problem, take the one that works best for you, work on it, modify it so it fits your style, then enjoy, thats what according to me works the best <.<

That means you are not getting to know your dreams well enough to learn roughly how they work. You can pay attention to dream content and relate that to waking life content/actions and manipulate the incubation process from knowing how the dream got the 'theme' and from where. For me there are 2 parts to a dream..the base which is reality or real experiences in your lifetime and there is the other part which is non-reality and abstract and not part of my daily life. Knowing how your dreams work makes it easier to navigate and 'implant' reality checks.

Initially you really have to work at it.
Once you start racking up the Lucids it becomes easier.

Stick with the dream journal every day. Try WBTB and MILD at the weekends.
Practice your reality checks during the week.
      Lucid Dreams:-
      MILD/DILD: 79
      WILD: 13
      DEILD:13
      (TOTAL: 108 )

After a year with no results would put me off trying. But then again, I'm quite lazy in that respect.

It's only a matter of time though. When it happens it'll all be worth it and when it does happen I'd be surprised if you didn't get a few in the following nights. Once you've tasted it it generally does become easier in some ways. Unfortunately for me DILDing doesn't really work.

Best of luck but do try and start from scratch. Your head must be buzzing with useless info and such. I know from experience that reading too much about different techniques kind of works against you favor. I'd say you go back to square one with a WBTB/MILD combo whenever you can.

Best of luck and stick with it, mate!

I've been at it for a little less than a year, and have had three DILDs, and a bunch of close calls where I had high awareness, but never quite got lucid. I had hoped for better results, but it's very hard to maintain awareness during the day, as I'm a programmer. Once I get "in the zone" and start cranking out code it can be literally 3-4 hours before I stop to realize what has happened -- that's a good thing for my job, but a bad thing for getting LDs.

Keep at it and you'll see results eventually. Getting your first lucid is the hardest part.

      Edit:

Thinking on what Shift said, exploring other techniques is useful. I've been dead set on achieving results through DILD, as I'm looking for something I can work with that doesn't require a lot of external shuffling about, waking up in the middle of the night, etc. But I think I might be able to make some progress with FILD... I've just been too busy with a recent project that is running behind schedule!

I find that I become less conscious of dreaming when I stop daydreaming or using my imagination while waking. When I force myself to imagine things or scenarios to a certain length my conscious of dreaming seems to get better at night.

I don't keep numbers of the times going lucid but it's at least every two weeks or so. And I live a modest life lucid; I am mostly interested in the content of the lucidity than the special powers. I used to be really trying to bend rules and create my own reality, yet it lost its charm when I realized the meaningless of it all. Freedom is not so fun once you'd had it all. Now I suppose I am merely searching for some glimmer of truth over there.
